일반고와 특목고의 수준별 수업에 따른 성취도와 미래인재역량 비교 연구

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 특목고와 일반고의 수준별 수업 실태를 비교하고, 각 학교유형에서 수준별 수업 집단에 따라 학생의 성취도와 미래인재역량이 다른가를 밝히는 것이다. 또한 특목고의 각 수준별 수업 집단의 성취도와 미래인재역량을 일반고의 각 집단과 비교하는 것이다. 이를 위해 한국교육개발원의 ‘학교교육 실태 및 수준 분석연구’의 4주기 고등학교 자료를 이용하였다. 총196개교 1,559명의 응답결과를 가지고 χ2 독립성 검정과 공변량분석, 다변량분산분석 등을 실시한 결과, 첫째, 수준별 수업실시여부와 수준 수에서 특목고와 일반고 간에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 특목고내에서 수준별 수업 상집단의 수학 성적과 미래인재역량(문제해결력 제외)은 하집단과 유의하게 다르지 않았다. 일반고 내에서 수준별 수업 상집단의 수학 성적과 미래인재역량(창의적 사고와 자기확신 역량 제외)은 하집단 보다 높았다. 셋째, 특목고 상집단의 수학성적과 미래인재역량이 일반고 상집단보다 높았으며, 특목고 하집단의 수학성적과 미래인재역량 또한 일반고 하집단 보다 높았다. 그리고 특목고 하집단의 수학점수와 창의역량과 자기주도역량이 일반고 상집단보다 높았다. 본 결과는 교육의 효율성을 고려했을 때 특목고보다는 일반고에서 과목별 이동수업을 운영하는 것이 더 적합함을 시사한다. 또한 학교 간 수준별 교육과정의 영향력이 학교 내 수준별교육과정보다 더 큼을 지지한다.

영문 초록

This study compared student s academic achievement and future capabilities in between-school streaming (general high schools vs. special purpose high schools) and course-by course tracking (high ability groups vs. low ability groups). The data of 1,559 high school students from Korean Educational Longitudinal Study in Korean Educational Development Institute were analyzed. The results showed that there were significant differences between general high schools and special purpose high schools in the management of ability grouping. Second, the academic achievement and most future capabilities of high ability groups were not significantly different from those of low ability groups in special purpose high schools. Third, the academic achievement and most future capabilities of high ability groups were significantly higher than those of low ability groups in general high schools. Forth, the academic achievement and all the future capabilities of special purpose high school students were significantly higher than those of general high school students in high ability groups. Fifth, the academic achievement and all the future capabilities of special purpose high school students were significantly higher than those of general high school students in low ability groups. Sixth, the academic achievement and some future capabilities of low ability groups in special purpose high schools were significantly higher than those of high ability groups in general high schools. The implications of this study are discussed.
