근대소설에 나타난 과학과 교통기술의 매체성 연구

국문 초록

과학기술의 산물인 ‘근대적 기계매체’는 창조적 발명이 아닌 외국으로부터의 유입을 통해 확인되었다. 과학기술은 일제의 기획된 식민정책에 적극 활용되었으며, 기술의 산물인 기계매체는 곧 권력상징으로 이어짐을 이광수의 ≪개척자≫․≪무정≫, 이상춘의 <기로>, 장춘의 <천재?백치?>를 통해 확인할 수 있다. 이때 과학기술의 산물인 ‘기차’와 ‘자동차’와 같은 교통수단은 인력거와 같은 ‘탈 것’에서 발생할 수 없는 사회구조 변화를 야기한다. 이는 맥루언의 기술중심 매체이론을 근거로 한 매체성과 관계있다. 근대의 위력은 역학적인 규칙성에 의한다. 이는 근대적 기계매체로 작동하며, 조선의 식민화와 결부된 채 표상된다. 근대적 의미의 기술이란 세세한 부분까지 계획․통제된 기계를 만들어내는 것을 의미한다. 김남천의 <길 위에서>, 염상섭의 <파리와 그의 안해>, 유광렬의 <어느직공의 死>는 근대 과학기술의 산물인 기차와 자동차에 대한 대중의 이중적 인식구조를 보여준다. 조선의 근대화로 인해 유입된 교통기술은 당대 사회와 대중의 의식형성 및 인식 변화에 구조적 영향력을 행사함으로써 매체적 특성을 갖는다. 이상의 <날개>, 염상섭의 ≪만세전≫, 이광수의 ≪흙≫은 특정한장소의 전통적 의미를 상실케 하고 새로운 의미의 장소성을 부여하는교통기술의 매체성을 반영한다. 뿐만 아니라, 주요섭의 <인력거꾼>과 채만식의 <화물자동차>는 다른 교통수단과의 배타적 양립을 보여줌으로써 대립적 사회계층구조를 형성하는 양상을 반영한다.

영문 초록

A product of technology of ‘modern media machine’ was confirmed by inflow from abroad rather than creative invention. Technology has been leveraged in planning the colonial policy of Japan. Machine media is a product of technology. This leads to a power symbol. It was confirmed by Yi Kwang-su’s ≪Gaechukja≫․≪Mujung≫, Yi song-chun's , Chang chun's . Transportation products, such as the ‘Train’ and ‘Car’, generates a social structure changes that can not occur in a rickshaw. The Media traits is based on the theory of technology-driven media in McLuhan. The power of modern is mechanical regularity. It works by modern media machine, it is holding a symbol associated with the colonization of Korea. What the modern means of technical means producing a palned and controlled machines to detail. Kim Nam-cheon's , Yeom Sang-seob's , Yu Gwang-yeol's are show the dual structure of public awareness about the car and of train of modern science and technology products. The incoming transportation technical as modernization of the Joseon Dynasty has the media characteristics by exerting influence on structural changes, forming of social and public consciousness. Lee Sang's , Yeom Sang-seob's ≪Man se jeon≫, Yi Kwang-su’s ≪Heulk≫are eliminating the traditional sense of a particular place. It reflects the medium of the transportation technology that gives the location of the new meaning. As well as, Ju Yosup's , Chae Man-sik’s reflect the tendency to form a oppositional social hierarchy by showing exclusively compatible with other means of transportation.
