초등영재학생의 사교육 실태 및 사교육이 학업스트레스 및 학습동기에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 초등학교 영재학생들의 사교육 실태를 조사하고, 3가지 변인(사교육 과목의 수, 하루 평균 공부시간, 사교육을 선택한 주체)에 따른 학교 학업스트레스를 비교하는데 그 목적이 있다. 이를 위해 G교대에서 운영하고 있는 영재교육원에 재학중인 초등학생 128명을 대상으로 설문을 실시하였다. 연구 결과 영재학생의 96.9%가 사교육에 참여하고 있었다. 사교육의 형태는 대다수가 ‘학원 수강’을 한다고 하였으며, 학습지도 과반수 가량 되었다. 현재 받고있는 사교육 과목은 국어, 수학 등의 주지과목이 가장 많았으며, 사교육 종류로는 주 2가지 종류를 받는다는 비율이 가장 높았으나 4개 이상의 사교육을 받는다는 학생도 24%가 넘었다. 사교육 과목의 수와 하루 평균 공부시간은 학업 스트레스와 학습동기에는 유의미한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 사교육을 받기로 한 주체가 학생 스스로일 경우, 학업 스트레스가 부모님이나 다른 사람에 의해 사교육을 받은 경우에 비하여 유의미한 수준으로 낮았으며, 학습동기는 유의미한 수준으로 높았다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the condition of private education for gifted students and to compare their academic stress in relation to four variables: 1) how many types of private education, 2) what subject areas were studies in private education, 3) average study time outside of school, and 4) whether the student or others choose private education. For this purpose, 128 elementary school students attending the Gifted Education Center operated by G university were surveyed. The survey revealed that 96.9% of gifted students participated in private education. In this study, private education included attending a private institute, private tutoring, purchased worksheets, or on-line lessons provided by a private institution. The most common type of private education was attending a private institutes, and more than half of students periodically purchased worksheet. Many students received two or more types of private education per week. and 24% of students received four or more types of private education per week. Among all variables, student academic stress level and academic motivation wwere most impacted by who choose private education, students themselves or others. In the case of the students themselves who decided to receive private education, the overall level of academic stress was lower and academic motivation was higher than those receiving private education chosen by parents or others.
