병자호란의 두 가지 기억 양상

국문 초록

본 연구는 병자호란의 두 가지 기억 양상을 연구한 것이다. 연구 대상은 병자호란에 관한 과거의 기억을 현재화한 문화적 기억 장치인 김훈의 『남한산성』과 유하령의 『화냥년』이다. 연구 방법론은 서사를 이끌어가는 작중 인물의 담론을 중심으로 서사 양상을 분석한 것이다. 연구 결과를 정리하면 다음과 같다. 첫째, 『남한산성』은 유사성의 원리를 바탕으로 병자호란 당시 지배층의 공식기록인 조선왕조실록을 재현했다는 점에서 주류 기억 양상을 보여준 소설이다. 둘째, 『남한산성』은 역사적 인물을 중심으로 남한산성에서 47일간 농성한 역사기록을 서술한 것이다. 그러나 청나라에 노예로 끌려간 조선인 피로인을 배제했다는 점에서 문제적이다. 셋째, 『화냥년』은 상사성에 기초해서 병자호란 당시 민족수난사를 피로인을 중심으로 다루었다는 점에서 망각의 서사를 복원한 측면이 있다. 넷째, 『화냥년』은 서사적 관점에서 볼 때, 플롯이 허술한 것과 인물의 전형성을 벗어났다는 점에서 역사소설로 보기에는 미흡하다. 그럼에도 불구하고 병자호란의 기억방식을 기존의 왕조수난사에서 민족수난사로 바꾼 점은 문학사적 의의가 크다고 볼 수 있다.

영문 초록

In this paper, tow aspects of the Second Manchu Invasion of Korea are studied. The two novels, Namhansanseong written by Kim Hoon and Trollop written by Ryoo Ha Ryung are selected as they are kinds of cultural devices currentizing past memories about the war. The research methodology is analyzing the aspects of narration coring the characters discourse. The result of the study follows; firstly, Namhansanseong shows the mainstream aspects of memories in that it deals with the official records , The Annals of the Joseon Dynasty based on the similarity principle. Secondly, it describes the sit-in battle for 47days, focusing on historical figures. However, the novel excludes the people forcibly hauled to China. Thirdly, Trollop deals with people s history of ordeal, putting the people forcibly hauled in the center, recovering the history disappearing into oblivion, based on similarity. Lastly, however, the novel, Trollop is poor in plot, goes out of the typical criteria of character and so is not enough to be called as a historical novel. Nevertheless, it changes the way of remembering the war from the eyes of the dynasty to those of people, which has a significant meaning in the history of Korean literature.
