보육교사의 일-삶 균형과 주관적 경력성공의 경향 및 관계

국문 초록

본 연구는 보육교사의 일-삶 균형과 주관적 경력성공의 전반적 경향 및 변인에 따른 차이를 알아보고, 이들 간의 관계를 밝히는데 목적이 있었다. 연구대상은 어린이집에 근무하는 보육교사 208명이었으 며, 연구도구로는 김정운, 박정열(2008)이 개발한 ‘일과 삶의 균형(Work-Life Balance)’ 척도와 Shockley 등(2016)이 개발한 ‘주관적 경력성공 척도(Subjective Career Success Inventory: SCSI)’를 보 육교사에게 적합하게 수정․보완하여 사용하였다. 연구결과, 첫째, 보육교사의 일-삶 균형은 보통에 근접한 수준이었으며, 교사의 경력, 결혼여부, 월급여에 따라 일-삶의 균형 전체 혹은 하위요인에 유 의한 차이가 있었다. 둘째, 보육교사의 주관적 경력성공은 보통보다 약간 높은 수준이었으며, 교사의 경력, 교육정도, 결혼여부, 기관유형, 근무시간, 월급여에 따라 주관적 경력성공 전체 혹은 하위요인 에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 셋째, 보육교사의 일-삶 균형이 잘 이루어질수록 주관적 경력성공을 높게 인지하며, 그 역도 성립하여 양자 간에 정적상관을 보였다. 이러한 결과는 보육교사의 일-삶 균형과 주관적 경력성공에 지속적인 관심을 가지고, 이를 향상시킬 수 있는 실제적 지원을 제공할 필요가 있 음을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study aimed to investigate overall aspects and differences depending on variables of childcare teachers’ work-life balance and subjective career success and to examine the relationships between the twos. The subjects were 208 childcare teachers, and the research tools were modified versions of the ‘Work-Life Balance’ scale developed by Kim and Park (2008) and the ‘Subjective Career Success Inventory’ developed by Shockley et al. (2016). The results of this study are as follows. First, the mean score of childcare teachers’ work-life balance was close to average, and significant differences were found on the total and/or some subordinate factors of their work-life balance depending on their teaching careers, marital statuses, and monthly salaries. Second, the mean score of childcare teachers’ subjective career success was above average. Significant differences were found on the total and/or subordinate factors of their subjective career success depending on their teaching careers, educational levels, marital statuses, types of childcare, hours of duty, and monthly salaries. Third, there were positive correlations between their work-life balance and subjective career success; the better balance is achieved between their work and life, the higher career success they perceive, and vice versa. These results imply the necessity of paying continuous attention to childcare teachers’ work-life balance and subjective career success and of providing useful ways to support the improvement of the twos.
