청소년이 지각한 부모의 긍정적 양육태도와 학업열의 간 관계에서 그릿(grit)과 삶의 만족도의 이중매개효과

국문 초록

본 연구의 목적은 청소년이 지각한 부모의 긍정적 양육태도와 학업열의 간 관계에서 그릿과 삶의 만족도의 이중매개효과를 검증하는 것이다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 한국아동･청소년패널조사 2018(Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018; KCYPS 2018)의 4차년도 자료를 사용하였으며, 데이터 정제 과정을 거쳐 중학교 1학년 2,274명과 고등학교 1학년 2,265명을 표본으로 선정하였다. 수집된 자료는 SPSS Statistics version 29.0 프로그램을 사용하여 상관관계를 분석하였고, PROCESS Macro for SPSS(ver. 4.2.)를 사용하여 이중매개효과를 검증하였다. 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 청소년의 학업열의, 부모의 긍정적 양육태도, 그릿, 삶의 만족도 간에는 유의한 상관관계가 있었다. 이는 청소년의 학업열의가 가정환경 요인뿐만 아니라 개인의 내적 요인 중 그릿 및 삶의 만족도와도 밀접한 관계가 있음을 보여준다. 둘째, 부모의 긍정적 양육태도와 청소년의 학업열의 간 관계에서 그릿과 삶의 만족도는 순차적 이중매개효과를 보였다. 즉, 부모의 긍정적 양육태도가 자녀의 그릿을 상승시키면 이는 다시 삶의 만족도를 상승시키고 결국 학업열의를 증가시킬 수 있음을 의미한다. 셋째, 부모의 긍정적 양육태도와 청소년의 학업열의 간 관계에서 그릿과 삶의 만족도의 순차적 이중매개효과가 중학교 1학년과 고등학교 1학년 두 집단 모두에게서 검증되었다. 이는 부모의 긍정적 양육태도가 그릿, 삶의 만족도를 거쳐 학업열의에 영향을 미치는 경로가 청소년의 학교급 전환 시기에 따라서도 같은 경향성을 보인다는 것을 의미한다. 이상과 같은 연구결과는 학교 및 청소년 상담･교육 현장에서 청소년의 학업열의를 향상시키기 위한 부모 대상의 양육 관련 교육, 청소년의 그릿과 삶의 만족도 증진을 고려하는 심리적 개입 및 환경 조성에 대한 기초자료가 될 수 있음을 의미한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate the dual mediating effects of grit and life satisfaction in the relationship between positive parenting attitudes and academic engagement perceived by adolescents. To achieve the research goal, data from the 4th year of the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018 (KCYPS 2018) were used. Through the data cleansing process, 2,274 freshmen middle school students and 2,265 freshmen high school students were selected as samples. The collected data were analyzed for the dual mediating effects using the PROCESS Macro for SPSS (ver. 4.2). The results of the analysis are as follows: First, there was a meaningful correlation between academic engagement, positive parenting attitudes, grit, and life satisfaction of adolescents. The correlation indicates that adolescents' academic engagement is closely related not only to factors in the home environment, but also to internal aspects of individuals such as grit and life satisfaction. Secondly, there were sequential dual mediating effects of grit and life satisfaction in the relationship between positive parenting attitudes and academic engagement of adolescents. This means that positive parenting attitudes, by increasing the grit within their children, can result in the subsequent increase in satisfaction in life in general, which ultimately contributes to higher academic engagement. Finally, the sequential dual mediating effects of grit and life satisfaction in the relationship between positive parenting attitudes and adolescents' academic engagement were validated in both the first year of middle school and the first year of high school. This means that the dual mediation path that affects academic engagement from parents' positive parenting attitudes through grit and life satisfaction shows a similar tendency depending on the timing of adolescents' school-level transition. These findings can be used as a basis for parenting education for schools and youth counseling and education settings to improve adolescents' academic engagement and for psychological interventions and environments that consider adolescents' grit and life satisfaction.
