국문 초록

본고는 스캔들이 소설화되는 과정, 그리고 그것의 결과물인 모델소설에 대한 관심에서 출발하였다. 실재성과 허구성을 동시에 함축하고 있는 모델소설은 작가, 독자, 모델 간의 힘의 삼각구도 안에서 여러 종류의 논쟁을 불러일으키는데 특히 모델이 권력 구도에서 배제되는 환경에서는 그것이 의사사실화(擬似事實化)되는 경향이 더욱 크다는 데 주목하여 김동인의 『김연실전』을 새롭게 읽으려고 하였다. 『김연실전』을 신여성 김명순을 모델로 한 모델소설로 규정하고 그것이 1920-30년대 걸쳐 유포된 김명순의 스캔들을 어떻게 소설화했는지 고찰하였으며 궁극적으로 모델소설이 독자들에게 의사사실로 읽히는 과정을 김명순에 대한 비평과 회고록을 통해 살펴보았다.

영문 초록

Kim Dongin's Chronology of Kim Yeonsil can be regarded as a Model Novel of Kim Myoungsoon, one of the 1st generation of Sinyeosung(Modern Girl). Model Novel as a dramatization of scandals could bring about controversial issues around to what extent the story can be read as a true story. And for the case of Sinyeosung, often excluded from that argument because of their social status and reputation, the story about them is very likely to be pseudo-realistic to the readers. This article examined Chronology of Kim Yeonsil especially in the respect of how this story, as a model novel, is dramatized with the scandals already aroused around Kim Myungsoon, and the cases that showed this novel was treated as a pseudo-realistic text.
