국문 초록

이 글은 일제강점기 남해지역 소속 아동문학인들이 펼친 아동문학의 전개과정과 성격을 파악하기 위한 것이다. 남해지역 아동문학은 1930년부터 1932년 사이에 집중 발표되었는데, 특히 박대영과 정윤환이 두드러진 활동을 보였다. 박대영은 남해흰벗사와 별도로 진주새힘사의 영향을 받아 남해새힘사를 결성하고, 정윤환은 『별나라』지를 매개로 남해소년문예사와 신진소년작가연맹을 조직하여 소년문예운동을 주도적으로 펼쳤다. 정갑봉이 조직한 남해별나라회도 독서회를 넘어 소년문예운동 단체로서의 성격을 지닌 것으로 보았다. 남해지역 아동문학인들은 『매일신보』와 『신소년』, 『별나라』의 매체를 통해 동시를 집중 발표했다. 이들은 『매일신보』의 매체 성격을 거의 의식하지 않고 ‘동무소식’란을 통해 다른 지역 소년문예운동가들과 소통하면서 다수의 동시를 발표했다. 후기로 가면서 『신소년』과 『별나라』지로 매체를 옮겨서 동시를 발표하는 추세를 보였다. 박대영의 동시는 가난한 현실을 배경으로 비극적인 현실인식을 보이는 작품들이 주류를 이루었다. 특히 『신소년』과 『별나라』에 발표한 동시 중에서 계급의식을 고취한 작품들은 당대 사회주의를 관념적으로 추수한 한계를 보여주었다. 정윤환은 1915년생으로 6.25전쟁 중 납북된 법조인이었다. 박대영과 마찬가지로 『매일신보』에 남해의 전승민요를 제보한 것을 계기로 다수의 동시와 아동문학 평론 1편을 발표했다. 정윤환은 맑고 순수한 동심의 세계를 노래한 동시와 비극적 사회현실을 드러낸 동시를 동시에 발표했다. 정윤환의 동시가 양면성을 지닌 만큼 소년문예운동을 포괄적으로 이해했다. 이밖에 공일동의 동시 <별>은 1931년 동아일보 신춘문예 당선 동시로 의태어를 잘 사용한 점이 돋보였으며, 윤석근과 정갑봉은 『매일신보』에서, 최종봉과 최재선은 『별나라』지에서, 비록 1-2편에 불과하지만, 문학적 재능을 보였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this article is to grasp the development process and characteristics of the juvenile literature unfolded by writers belonging to the Namhae region during the Japanese colonial period. The juvenile literature in the Namhae region was intensively published between 1930 and 1932, with Park Dae-young and Jeong Yun-hwan particularly prominent. Under the influence of Jinju Saehimsa, Park Dae-young formed Namhae-Hinbeutsa and Namhae-Saehimsa, and Jeong Yunhwan organized Namhae-sonyunmunyesa(i. e. Namhae Boys Literary group) and Sinjinsonyeunjakgayeunmaing(i. e. Young Boy Writers Association) through 『Byeolnara』 and 『mailsinbo』 as a medium and led the juvenile literary movement. Namhaebyeolnarahoe, organized by Jeong Gab-bong, was more than a book club and had the character of the juvenile literature movement group. Young writers from the Namhae region focused on publishing juvenile literary works through the media of 『Maeil-Shinbo』, 『Shinsonyun』, and 『Byulnara』. They communicated with other local youth activists through the ‘Dongmusosik(Comrades News)’ column, almost unaware of the media nature of 『Maeil Shinbo』. In the latter period, they shifted the media to 『Shinsonyun』 and 『Byulnara』 and showed a tendency to publish the juvenile literary works. Park Dae-young's juvenile literary works were mostly works that showed a tragic perception of reality against a background of poor reality. In particular, among the juvenile poems published in 『Shinsonyun』 and 『Byulnara』, the works that promoted class consciousness showed the limitations of ideologically following contemporary socialism. Jeong Yun-hwan, born in 1915, was a lawyer who was abducted during the Korean War. Like Park Dae-young, he published a number of juvenile poems and a review of the juvenile literature after reporting the folk songs of Namhae in 『Maeil-Shinbo』. He simultaneously published juvenile poems expressing the world of pure and innocent children and juvenile poems that revealed the tragic social reality. In this respect, Jung Yun-hwan's juvenile poetry has two sides, and he comprehensively understood the juvenile literary movement. In addition, Gong Il-dong's juvenile poem stood out for its good use of idioms, as it won the Donga-Ilbo New Year's Literature Prize in 1931, and Yoon Seok-geun and Jeong Gab-bong in 『Maeil-Shinbo』, Choi Jong-bong and Choi Jae-seon in 『Byeolnara』, although only 1-2 episodes, they showed literary talent.
