한국전쟁기 피란수도 부산과 전시음악사회

국문 초록

이 논문에서는 한국전쟁기 피란수도 부산에서 펼친 전시음악사회의 활동을 실증적으로 고찰하였다. 개항도시 부산은 근대계몽기부터 문화적 자산을 구축해 왔으며, 해방 이후 다양한 음악활동을 통해 지역 음악사회를 형성해 나갔다. 한국전쟁은 문화의 지역재편을 통해 부산음악이 한 단계 더 도약하는 계기로 작용하였다. 부산음악인의 피란음악인에 대한 후원은 전시음악활동의 기반으로 작용했다. 전시음악사회의 형성과 전개 과정에서 부산음악사회의 재편도 가파르게 이루어졌다. 해방기 부산음악사회에서 큰 비중을 차지했던 교사-음악가와 아마추어 음악인들의 활동은 전쟁기 이후 쇠퇴하였으며, 일부 음악인은 반공 이데올로기의 칼날에 희생되기도 했다. 전후 부산에 잔류하거나 부산으로 이주한 음악인을 중심으로 부산음악사회가 새롭게 형성되었으며, 금수현, 윤이상, 배도순, 김점덕 등은 서울에서 활동 영역을 확장해 나갔다. 전중기 결성한 전시작곡가협회와 실험악회의 활동을 실증적으로 고찰한 결과, 창작활동의 다각화를 추구하고 음악의 본질적 가치를 모색하는 새로운 실험을 시도하였음을 확인하였다. 전중기 음악은 반공주의와 국가주의의 자장 안에서 전시문화전선의 구축에 동원되는 한편 음악의 내적 가치를 추구하는 활동을 함께 전개한 셈이다. 이 연구를 통해 피란음악인이 전후 부산음악사회의 성장을 일방적으로 견인했다고 보는 기존의 관점에서 벗어나 부산음악인들과 피란음악인들의 상호교류와 협력을 통해 전시음악사회를 형성하고 활동을 전개해 나갔음을 확인할 수 있었다. 특히 이제껏 단체명만 거론되었던 전시작곡가협회와 실험악회의 결성 동기, 구성원, 활동 양상을 실증자료를 통해 규명함으로써 전시 부산음악의 실체를 해명할 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to empirically examine the activities of the wartime music society that took place in Busan, the provisional capital of South Korea during the Korean war. The port city of Busan is rich in cultural assets that have been built since the modern Enlightenment. Based on this, even before the war, various activities were actively conducted in the Busan. In addition, Busan musicians served as patrons for musicians from all over the country to escape the war. These factors supported the formation and development of the wartime music society in Busan and became the basis for various musical activities. In the process of formation and development of the wartime music society, the reorganization of the Busan music society also took place. The activities of teacher-musicians and amateur musicians, who played a large part in the Busan music society during the liberation period, declined after the war. Some musicians were sacrificed to anti-communist ideology during the war. After the war, the Busan music society was newly formed around musicians who remained in Busan without returning to Seoul and musicians who moved to Busan. While Yun Isang, Gum Su-Hyun, Bae Doh-Soon, Lee Sang-Keun, Kim Jeom-Duk expanded their activities in Seoul. The Wartime Composers’ Association and the Experimental Music Association were organized during the Korean War. The activities of these groups were examined through empirical data such as pamphlets and newspaper articles. As a result, it was confirmed that new experiments were attempted to pursue the diversification of composition and to explore the essential value of music. It can be said that music during the wartime was used for anti-communist ideology and nationalistic logic, while activities to pursue the inner value of music were developed together. This study confirmed that Busan musicians provided an opportunity to renew the music society after the war by actively interacting and cooperating with the wartime music society.
