『기생 및 창기에 관한 서류철』의 기존 해제 분석 및 오류 정정에 관한 연구

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 우선 1992년부터 2015년까지 작성된 『기생 및 창기에 관한 서류철』에 관한 기존 4개의 해제 현황을 고찰하고, 이후 정식적인 해제라고 할 수 있는1992년 『일제문서해제선집』의 해제와 2000년 『일제문서해제-경무편』의 해제를 중점적으로 분석하여 여기서 발견되는 다양한 학술적 오류와 오기(誤記), 오독(誤讀) 등의 내용을 하나하나 조목조목 올바르게 바로잡았다. 『기생 및 창기에 관한 서류철』은 1908년부터 1910년까지 일제 통감부 경시청과내부 경무국 제2과에서 작성한 기록물들을 1910년 조선총독부 경무총감부가 편철(編綴)한 것으로, 문서제목에서 드러나듯이 ‘기생 관련 서류들’과 ‘창기 관련 서류들’ 이상 2종류의 기록물로 구성되어 있다. 또한 각 서류들의 작성시기와 실제 내용으로부터 분류하면 『기생 및 창기에 관한 서류철』은 총 4종류의 문서군으로 분류할 수 있다. 구체적으로는 ①‘공창제도’ 이식의 준비단계로서 ‘경성유녀조합’에 관한 서류들(1908년 6~7월), ②「기생단속령」 및 「창기단속령」 제정준비부터 발령, 시행, 세부지침, 신고서 양식 등에 이르기까지의 ‘기생 및 창기’에 관한 서류들(1908년 9~10월, 1909년 3월), ③‘공창제도’의 시작으로서 ‘한성창기조합소’의 설립과정 및 조직구성등에 관한 서류들(1909년 4~10월), ④기생들의 일본 공연 및 개성(開城) 공연에 관한서류들(1910년 5월) 이상 4종류의 문서군으로 구성되어 있고, 이 4종류의 문서군은 각각 독자적인 성격을 지니고 있다. 이것이 『기생 및 창기에 관한 서류철』의 본질적인성격이다. 무엇보다도 중요한 점은 『기생 및 창기에 관한 서류철』은 이와 같이 4종류의 문서군이 각각 독자적인 성격을 띠고 있기 때문에 ‘기생 관련 서류’를 ‘창기 관련 서류’와유사한 서류로 착각·오인(誤認)하거나 ‘창기 관련 서류들’을 ‘기생 관련 서류들’로 오독(誤讀)하여 왜곡된 논지를 전개한 ‘기존 해제들’과 ‘선행연구들’의 내용은 올바르게바로잡아져야 할 것이며, 이의 인용에 있어서도 충분한 주의를 기울여야 할 필요가 있다.

영문 초록

This study examined the four bibliographies on [Records of Gisaeng and Changgi] released from 1992 to 2015 and analyzed [Bibliography of Japanese Records] published in 1992 and [Bibliography of Japanese Records - Police Affairs] published in 2000, which are deemed as official bibliographical records, to point out and correct various academic errors, miswriting, and misreading found in these bibliographies. [Records of Gisaeng and Changgi] are the records filed by the Government-General of Korea’s Department of Police Affairs in 1910 that refer to the records prepared by the resident-general’s Police Department and the Police Bureau Division 2 from 1908 to 1910. As the titles show, [Records of Gisaeng and Changgi] are composed of two types of records including the records on the Gisaeng and the prostitutes. [Records of Gisaeng and Changgi] are classified into four groups based on the preparation time and actual contents of each record. The four groups are as follows: ① Records on the “Gyeongseong Prostitute Association” as a preparatory phase for the implantation of the licensed prostitution system (June - July 1908), ② Records on “Gisaeng and Prostitute” covering issues from legislation preparation to issuance, execution, detailed guidelines, and report format for the regulations on the Gisaeng and prostitutes (September - October 1908, March 1909), ③ Records on the process of establishing the “Hanseong Prostitute Association” as the start of the licensed prostitution system and its organization (April - October 1909), ④ Records on the performances in Japan and Gaeseong by the Gisaeng (May 1910). The records in these four groups hold unique characteristics which are the fundamental characteristics of the [Records of Gisaeng and Changgi]. Above all, the four types of records found in the [Records of Gisaeng and Changgi] have the unique characteristics. There include the existing bibliographies and the preceding papers that mistook the records of Gisaeng as the records similar to the records on prostitutes or misread the records on prostitutes as the records of Gisaeng and ended up reproducing the distorted points. Such mistakes, miswritings, and misreadings must be corrected. Moreover, such bibliographies and the preceding papers must be quoted more carefully.
