초등교사의 사회과 검정 교과서 선정 경험 연구

국문 초록

연구목적 본 연구는 초등 사회 검정 교과서 도입과 함께 학교 현장에서 처음 실시된 ‘단위학교별 교과서선정’에 참여한 교사들의 경험과 그들의 요구를 확인하여, 검정 교과서 선정 과정의 개선 방향을 모색하기위해 실시하였다. 연구방법 질문지법으로 교과서 선정에 참여한 교사 154명으로부터 그들의 경험과 관련된 응답을 받아분석하였으며, 응답자 중 검정 교과서 제도에 대해 긍정적인 답변을 한 교사와 부정적인 답변을 한 교사를각각 포커스그룹으로 구성하여 인터뷰한 내용을 범주화하여 현장교사들의 검정 교과서에 대한 인식을도출하였다. 연구결과 그 결과, 교사들은 학습활동, 그림⋅사진⋅그래프 자료, 지문 및 발문 등 실제 수업에 자신이주로 사용하는 요소와 디자인 및 가독성을 고려하여 교과서를 선정하였다. 교과서 선정에 가장 큰 장애물은많은 종류의 교과서를 살펴볼 시간이 촉박했다는 것으로 이에 보완할 제도 개선이 필요하다고 인식하였다. 교사들의 경험을 분석한 결과 첫째, 웹 플랫폼 기반 검정 교과서 분석 자료 제공, 둘째, 아케이드형 검정교과서 도입 등을 초등사회과 검정 교과서 선정제도 개선 방향으로 제언하였다. 결론 본 연구는 단위학교의 교과서 선정과 관련된 교사들의 목소리를 통해 검정제의 의미를 살릴 수있는 초등사회과 검정 교과서 선정제도의 개선 방향을 제언했다는 점에서 연구의 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study aimed to suggest a way for improving the adoption of authorized-textbooks basedon the teachers’ experiences and demand for the book. Methods: In this study, 154 teachers who participated in the adoption of elementary social studiestextbook were investigated using a questionnaire. The participants’ perceptions were then derivedthrough focus group interviews (FGI) with the teachers having both positive and negative thoughtsabout the authorized textbook system. Results: The following criteria were deemed to be important for textbook adoption: Learning activities,pictures, photographs, graph materials, explanations, and questions. Except for design and readability,other criteria were not as important. The teachers thought that the system should be improved becauseit was difficult to review many types of textbooks within a limited time. Conclusion: Based on the analysis results, the following three areas are suggested as ways to improvethe adoption of elementary social studies authorized-textbook. First, the analysis data of certifiedtextbooks should be provided online, and second, textbooks should be authorized and selected fromthird to sixth graders at the same time. Finally arcade-type textbooks are suggested. This study wasmeaningful in that it suggested a way of improving the adaptation of elementary social studiesauthorized-textbooks through the voices of teachers.
