상담 수퍼비전에서의 수퍼바이지의 전환적 학습 경험

국문 초록

연구목적 본 연구의 목적은 오랜 기간 수퍼비전을 받은 상담전문가들을 대상으로 수퍼비전 과정에서상담자로서의 전문적 성장에 전환점이 된 학습 경험을 탐색하는 데 있었다. 연구방법 최근 2년 이내에 한국상담심리학회의 상담심리사 1급 자격을 취득한 상담전문가 10명을 대상으로 반 구조화된, 일대일 인터뷰를 실시하였고, Hill 등(2005)이 제시한 합의적 질적 연구방법을 사용하여자료를 분석하였다. 연구결과 전환적 학습을 촉진시킨 수퍼바이저의 특성은 ‘진정성 있는 관심과 존중’, ‘공감적이고 지지적인태도’, ‘스스로 깨달을 수 있도록 유도’ 등으로 나타났으며, 전환적 학습 내용은 ‘상담의 핵심 원리와 기법터득’, ‘상담자로서의 자신에 대한 이해 증진’, ‘역량과 강점 발견을 통한 임파워먼트’ 등으로 확인되었다. 전환적 학습의 결과는 ‘내담자를 공감하고 수용하며 신뢰하기 위해 노력함’과 ‘상담자로 성장하기 위한희망과 의지를 회복함’ 등으로 분석되었다. 결론 본 연구의 결과는 수퍼바이지의 전문적 발달에 기여하는 학습을 촉진시키기 위한 수퍼바이저의태도와 행동 및 수퍼비전 개입에 대한 가이드라인을 제시해 주었다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to explore significant learning experiences of professionalcounselors, who had received supervision over an extended period of time, that served as a turningpoint in their professional growth. Methods: Semi-structured, individual interviews were conducted with ten professional counselors, whohad earned an advanced-level certification in counseling within the last two years, and data wereanalyzed using the Consensual Qualitative Research method proposed by Hill et al.(2005). Results: Results indicated that the characteristics of a supervisor, which contributed to the transformationallearning of the participants, included ‘genuine concern and respect’, ‘empathic and supportive attitudes’,and ‘guided discovery approaches’. Transformational learning contents were identified as ‘acquiringa core set of counseling principles and skills’, ‘gaining increased self-understanding as a counselor’,and ‘feeling empowered by discovering capabilities and strengths’. In addition, the consequences oftransformational learning typically included ‘making efforts to contain and trust a client’ and ‘restoringhope and courage for continual professional growth’. Conclusion: Findings from this study should serve as guidelines for effective supervisor attitudes,behaviors and supervisory interventions to facilitate the learning of supervisees for their professionaldevelopment.
