국문 초록

본 연구는 한국 재벌기업을 대상으로 정보비대칭이 자본구조 의사결정에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 분석기간은 2001년부터 2010년까지 총 10개년이고 표본기업은 재벌기업 940개, 비재벌기업 3,029개 등 총 3,969개이다. 실증분석 결과 한국 재벌기업은 재무의사결정에서 자본조달순위이론이 성립되는 것으로 나타났다. 하지만 자본구조 의사결정에서 정보비대칭이 중요 영향요인 인지는 명확하지 않았다. 이와 달리 비재벌기업 에서는 자본조달순위이론의 성립과 함께 그 핵심가정인 정보비대칭이 자본구조를 결정하는 중요 요인임을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 한국 재벌기업의 자본구조 의사결정에 있어서 기업의 가치와 성과를 훼손하는 정보비대칭의 영향은 비재벌기업에 비해 적다는 것을 의미한다. 또한 비재벌기업에 있어서 기업의 영업성과와 미래전망에 대해 정보를 투명하게 제공하는 것은 상대적으로 더 중요함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

We test the predictions of the pecking order theory and whether information asymmetry is an important determinants of capital structure decision in Korean Chaebol affiliated companies. Chaebol affiliated of 940 companies and non-Chaebol affiliated of 3,029 companies listed on KRX for 10 years from 2001 to 2010. Unbalanced panel data integrated with time series and cross-sectional data were analyzed with panel regression analysis. To sum up the empirical analysis of Korean Chaebol affiliated companies, the pecking order theory was found valid in respect of financial decision. However, the information asymmetry was no significant effects on capital structure decision. Notably, in the non-Chaebol affiliated companies, information asymmetry, which is the core hypothesis in the pecking order theory, is an important factor determining their capital structure.
