신생아중환자실 간호사의 애도경험 및 임종간호에 대한 태도

국문 초록

본 연구는 신생아중환자실 간호사의 영아 임종 시 애도경험 및 임종간호에 대한 태도를 파악하기 위해 서울소재 2개 상급종합병원의 2개 신생아중환자실에서 근무하는 간호사 66명을 대상으로 애도경험 측정도구와 임종간호에 대한 태도 측정도구를 이용하여 설문조사하였다. 수집된 자료를 SPSS/WIN 21.0 통계프로그램을 이용하여 기술통계, t-test, ANOVA, Spearman의 상관관계로 분석한 결과, 대상자는 중등도의 애도를 경험하는 것으로 나타났으며, 결혼상태, 자녀 유무, 신생아중환자실 경력, 지난 1년간 영아 죽음에 대한 경험, 영아 사망 후 감정 공유 여부에 따라 애도경험 점수에 유의한 차이가 있었다. 임종간호에 대한 태도를 보면 대상자는 임종간호 수행에 불편함을 느끼고 있었고, 제시된 간호사의 역할에 대해 동의하지도 반대하지도 않았으며, 죽어가는 영아, 방금 영아가 사망한 가족, 바쁜 병동 등이 임종간호 참여에 매우 영향을 주는 요인으로 나타났다. 대상자의 애도경험과 임종간호에 대한 태도 간에는 유의한 상관관계가 없었다. 신생아중환자실 간호사의 편안한 임종간호 수행을 돕기 위해서는 지지와 교육을 통해 긍정적인 애도경험을 도모하고, 임종간호에 대한 지식 및 역할에 대한 인식 고취를 위한 체계적인 노력이 필요하다.

영문 초록

This study was to identify nurses’ grief experience and attitudes toward bereavement/ end-of-life care of dying infants in the neonatal intensive care units (NICUs). The participants experienced a moderate level of grief. There were significant differences in participants’ grief experience according to marital status, having children, number of year as a NICU nurse, experience with infants’ death in the past year, or sharing their feeling with someone after an infant died. Participants were uncomfortable with care and neither agreed nor disagreed with many aspects of their roles except the importance of providing daily support to the families. There were significant differences in participants’ attitudes according to education, marital status, religion, or number of year as a nurse. There was no correlation between grief experience and attitudes toward bereavement/end-of-life care. Results suggest that it is necessary to promote nurses’ positive grief experience and perception of bereavement/end-of-life care by providing support intervention and education to promote their comfort and involvement in bereavement/end-of-life care of families of dying infants.
