고등학생의 비인지적 능력이 취업에 미치는 효과

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 청년층이 재학 중에 갖게 되는 인지적 능력과 비인지적 능력이 노동시장 성과에 미치는 영향을 파악하고자 하였다. 이를 위해 한국고용정보원에서 실시하고 있는 청년패널(YP2007; youth panel 2007) 조사 자료 중에서 1차 년도부터 8차 년도까지의 연도별 자료를 연결하여 사용하였다. 동태분석을 위해 자료를 연결하였는데, 개인의 교육력, 훈련, 자격, 가구 배경 등에 대한 정보는 개인용 자료를 활용하였고, 개인의 노동시장 입직 및 성과 정보는 직업력 자료를 활용하여 통합하였다. 개인의 연령 속성 차이를 통제하기 위해 2007년 당시에 고교 3학년만을 코호트로 구성하여 분석하였다. 1차 웨이브 당시 고교 3학년생이었던 패널들은 2차 웨이브에 바로 취업을 한 경우도 있지만, 상당수는 대학에 진학을 하였다. 이들을 계속 추적하여 7년이 경과한 시점인 8차 웨이브까지 첫 일자리에 취업한 경험이 있는지를 알아보고자 하였다. 이에 본 연구에서는 로지스틱 회귀분석을 실시하였다. 연구 결과, 인지적 능력은 단순한 취업 여부에는 전혀 영향을 주지 않는 것으로, 비인지적 능력은 첫 일자리 취업여부에만 음(-)의 효과가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 청년들의 노동시장 입직과정을 충분히 검토할 만큼 축적되지 않은 자료의 한계에 기인한 것으로 파악되었다. 끝으로 연구 결과를 토대로, 연구의 제한점 및 발전방향에 대해 논의하였다.

영문 초록

This study explores the relationships among determinants of labor market outcomes of youth’s cognitive abilities and non-cognitive abilities in school, using YP2007 (youth panel) data from KEIS (Korea employment information service). Personal data for the information of education, training, certification, and household background is merged with a vocational historical data for the entrance and determinants of labour market. Also this study analyzes the composed data with cohort that was a highschool senior in 2007 in order to control individual’s age. Some panel got a jobs when they were interviewed in wave 2, but most of the others entered the university. This study examines whether there is an experience of a first job up to wave 8 of a point in time that seven years have passed. The logit regression model is used for this study. The study shows that cognitive abilities do not have significant effect on employment status and non-cognitive abilities have significant negative effect on the first job employment status only. It is understood that the results of this study are caused by limitation of data which has not been accumulated enough to examine the youth’s entry process to labor market. In conclusion, the limitations of this study and the directions for improvement are discussed based on the results.
