글쓰기 기초학력 부진자를 위한 비교과 프로그램 운영 사례 및 방향 모색

국문 초록

대학은 대학 신입생 가운데 기초학력이 부진한 학생들이 본 수업에서 소외되지 않도록 도와줄 의무가 있다. 학습부진의 원인이 개인적인 차원을 넘어 사회적 차원에서 복합적으로 발생하며, 학습부진은 학업수행능력이나 학습동기뿐만 아니라 자아존중감, 자기효능감, 중도탈락률 등에 광범위하게 영향을 미치기 때문이다. 본고의 목적은 학습부진자들의 학습역량을 강화시킬 수 있는 교과 연계 비교과 프로그램을 개발․운영한 사례를 토대로 하여 그 성과와 한계를 논의하는 데에 있다. 이를 위해 건국대학교 글로컬캠퍼스 교양대학에서 2017학년도에 실시한 글쓰기 기초학력 부진자를 위한 비교과 프로그램인 “글쓰기 채움터” 운영사례를 연구 대상으로 삼았다. 글쓰기 영역에서 기초학력 부진자를 파악하기 위하여, 대학 자체 내에서 <글쓰기 기초학력진단평가>의 문항 및 평가 방식을 고안하여 활용하였다. 시험 결과, <글쓰기> 수강생 중 하위 10% 내외에 해당하는 학생들의 시험 결과를 면밀히 검토하여 “글쓰기 채움터” 대상자를 선정하였다. 두 학기 동안 <글쓰기> 수강생 중 6% 학생이 대상자로 선정되었다. 이들을 대상으로 4주간의 글쓰기 기초학력 증진 프로그램을 제공하였다. 4주간의 프로그램은 주로, 올바른 단어 선택, 정확한 문장 표현, 지문 요약하기를 다루었다. 대개의 학습부진자의 경우, 그들의 자존감을 해치지 않는 것이 중요하다는 연구 결과를 토대로 하여 1주차에는 “협력적 대화를 활용한 의사소통”을 도입하여 운영하였다. 수업 방법은 강의와 조별 활동을 통한 문제 풀이를 병행하였다. 4주간의 “글쓰기 채움터”에 참여한 학생들은 프로그램 종료 후 치른 형성평가에서 높은 성취도를 보였다. 뿐만 아니라 교육 만족도 조사에서도 문법적 지식의 습득 이외에도 글쓰기에 대한 자기효능감을 얻었음을 확인할 수 있었다. 그러나 바쁜 대학생활 속에서 방과후에 진행되는 비교과 프로그램에 참여하는 것은 대학생으로서 쉽지 않은 선택이다. 대학에서는 이들의 자발적인 참여를 위해 부드러운 교육 환경조성과 실질적인 인센티브 지원 등을 제공해야 할 것으로 보인다.

영문 초록

The university has an obligation to help students who are poor in basic education among college freshmen not to be alienated from the class. It is because the causes of poor learning occur more complexly on the social level beyond the personal level, and poor learning affects not only academic performance ability and learning motivation, but also self esteem, self-efficacy, dropout rate and so on. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the achievements and limitations of curriculum - based comparisons and programs that can enhance the learning abilities of underachievers based on their development and operation. For this purpose, the study was conducted on the case of “writing supplementary class” which is a comparative program for undergraduate students who have basic education for writing in Konkuk University College of Liberal Arts in 2017. In order to understand the basic academic background in the writing field, I used the question and evaluation method of “Basic Assessment of Writing Skills” within the university itself and used it. As a result of the test, the subjects of the “Less than 10%” of the students were carefully examined and the subjects of the “Writing supplementary classes” were selected. During the two semesters, 6% of the students were selected. They provided a four-week program for improving basic writing skills. The four-week program covered mainly correct word selection, accurate sentence presentation, and fingerprint summarization. Based on the results of research that most of the underachievers are not harming their self- esteem, we introduced and operated “communication using collaborative dialogue” in the first week. The lesson methods were solved by lectures and group activities. The students who participated in the 4-week “supplementary writing class” showed high achievement in the evaluation of formation after the end of the program. In addition, the education satisfaction survey showed that self - efficacy for writing was obtained in addition to grammatical knowledge acquisition. However, participating in after- school comparisons and programs in a busy college life is a difficult choice for college students. The college is expected to provide smooth education environment and practical incentive support for their voluntary participation.
