초등학교 체육전담 남교사로 삶에 대한 내러티브 탐구

국문 초록

본 연구는 초등학교 체육전담 교사의 삶을 통해 초등학교 체육전담교사로서 어떠 한 경험을 했으며 어떠한 방법을 통해 위기나 어려움을 극복하고 적응하고 있는지 에 대해 살펴보고자 한다. 이를 통해 실과교육을 전공한 초등학교 남성교사의 첫 임 용 이후 체육전담교사로서의 삶 속에서 경험과 의미를 분석하고 김교사의 경험과 관련하여 생애이야기를 서술하고자 하였다. 이러한 목적을 달성하기 위한 연구방법 은 내러티브 연구 방법을 활용하여 내러티브 텍스트를 구성하였다. 그 결과 첫째, 실과교육 전공이었던 김교사는 초등학교의 교사성비 불균형으로 인해 첫 임용과 동시에 본인의 대학전공과 관계없는 체육전담교사로서 임무를 거의 떠맡게 되었다. 둘째, 김교사는 학생들의 열악한 체육수업 환경을 개선하기 위해 체육전담교사의 전 문성 증진을 위한 고민을 하였으나 체육교과 질 향상을 위한 연수는 존재하고 있으 나 전문성 증진보다는 보이기 급급한 연수에 지나지 않음에 실망하고 재편성이 시 급하다고 지적한다. 셋째, 김교사는 체육대회나 기타 체육관련 행사로 인해 혼자 고 군분투하며 체육전담교사로서의 갈등을 느끼게 된다. 교사로서의 기본 업무 뿐만 아 니라 체육관련 행사 업무는 피로감을 상승시키고 다른 교사들과의 마찰을 야기했다. 이에 김교사는 체육전담교사로서의 소외감을 느끼게 된다. 넷째, 그럼에도 불구하고 김교사는 자신을 응원해 주는 학생들과 일부 동료교사들로 인해 희망을 얻고 교사 로서의 마음가짐을 다잡게 된다. 특히, 전문성 필요에 절실함을 느끼고 스포츠 강사 제도 도입에 매우 긍정적인 반응을 보였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this research was to find out how the experience of a male physical education teacher at an elementary school is like by tracing a life of an elementary school physical education teacher and discover what a method he used to overcome difficulties and adapt to his job. Through this, the experience and the significance in the life of a male physical education teacher, who majored in practical education but had to start out as a physical education teacher, were analyzed. In order to achieve this goal, the life story and experience of Mr. Kim, a male elementary school physical education teacher, was described. The research method to achieve this goal was used as a field text. A researcher created a basic framework for contents using field text and created a narrative text based on it. As a result, first, Mr. Kim, who majored in practical education, was assigned as a physical education teacher, which was unrelated to his university major, for his first teaching job due to gender ratio imbalance at elementary school. Second, Mr. Kim, in order to enhance poor physical education environment, started agonizing over how to improve his expertise as a physical education teacher. However, although there were trainings to enhance physical education class available, he was disappointed because they served only perfunctory purpose rather than enhancing expertise. Third, Mr. Kim, as he struggled alone to prepare athletic competition or athletic-related events, he began to experience conflicts as a physical education teacher. Not only basic works as teacher but works related to athletics-related works increased fatigue and created conflicts with other teachers.
