小林秀雄『無常といふ事』論

국문 초록

小林秀雄と日本の古典文学との関係は出発期に当たって表現された批評言語の次元から見れば大変希薄であったと言わざるを得ない。やはり小林秀雄はフランス文学者と同時代の日本文学との関係の中で批評の可能性を模索した文学者であったのである。その小林秀雄が戦争のさなかの時期に古典批評である『無常といふ事』を発表したことは注目に価する。それが、日本主義が叫ばれる時勢の中で自身と日本との関係を見極めようとする試行であったことは想像に難くない。小林秀雄は『無常といふ事』の中で日本の問題を普遍的な文学思想の領域に還元しながらその根本問題について問うている。その主題は言語、美、思想、伝統、歴史など文学思想を構成する、ほぼ全要素に渡っていた。本論稿は各々の主題について分析を行ない、その分析の結果から小林秀雄の古典批評の性格を究明しようとしたものである。

영문 초록

From the perspective of criticism language,it is inevitable to mention that there was little relation between Hideo Kobayashi and the Japanese classic literature. We regard Kobayashi as a literary scholar who sought the possibility of criticism in connection with the Japanese literature contemporaryto the scholars of the French literature. It is a remarkable fact that Kobayashi published his criticism of the classic literature, entitled Mujoto-iu-koto, during the wartime. This, we argue, was an attempt of Kobayashi to explore the relation between Kobayashi himself and Japan at the time when people of the nation were engaged in the Japanism. In Mujoto-iu-koto, Kobayashiaddresses fundamental issues of Japan, reducing them to the universal realms of literary thoughts. The themes of this exploration range over almost all elements of literary thoughts, such as language, beauty, thought, tradition, and history. In this article, we analyzeeach theme and, based on these analyses, investigate the nature of Kobayashi’s criticism of the classic literature.
