話標識の出現傾向からみた在米日本人2世の談話展開の方法

국문 초록

本稿では談話標識の出現傾向から在米日本人2世の談話展開の方法を考察し、さらに、東京の若年層と比較することで、在米日本人2世の談話展開の方法の特徴を明らかにした。 その結果、在米日本人2世は談話標識をあまり使用しないで話を進めていることが分かった。すなわち、相手の情報要求に対して在米日本人2世は、東京の若年層話者に比べ、自己確認形式である「ウン」の使用頻度は高くなっているが、情報共有表示形式である「ヤハリ」、引き込み形式である 「ネ」、説明開始·累加形式である「ソレデ」の使用頻度は少なくなっており、発話権取得·維持形式である「ダカラ」、情報共有確認形式である「ジャナイデスカ」の使用頻度は非常に少なく、情報共有喚起形式である「ホラ」、念押し形式である「ネ(↗)」は使用されていないことが明らかになった。 このように在米日本人2世が東京の若年層に比べ、談話標識の使用が全般的に少ないのは、アメリカで生まれ親や日本人学校など、限られた日本人としか交流できなかったなどの理由で、日本で一般に行われる談話展開の方法を習得できなかった可能性が有り得るだろう。 在米日本人2世がこのような傾向を見せる背景を含め、今後は対象を広げ、今回の結果についてさらに詳しく追究していくことが必要であろう。

영문 초록

In this paper, the discourse development method of the 2nd generation of American-Japanese was analyzed and its characteristics were compared with those of the young generation in Tokyo. As a result, the 2nd generation of American-Japanese does not frequently use discourse markers compared with the young generation in Tokyo. In particular, the usage frequency of the self confirmation marker, ‘UN’, is high, but other discourse markers were not used, such as the information sharing marker, ‘YAHARI’, the invitation marker, ‘NE’, the marker of starting/ adding of speaking, ‘SOREDE’, the marker of obtaining/ maintaining of speaking, ‘DAKARA’, and so on. We contend that the reason for this difference stems from the fact that the 2nd generation of American-Japanese grew up in environments where communications with native Japanese people were limited. In future, more expanded research will be necessary to analyze the tendency of the discourse development observed for the 2nd generation of American Japanese.
