국문 초록

本論文は女性の文学における書簡(手紙)の機能考察を目標としている。そのために平安王朝時代を背景に成立した日本の女性文学における、自己表現のメディアとしての書簡の機能考察を試みた。まず、文学における手紙の機能に着目し、手紙が担う自己を表現することの意味と機能を確認した。その上で、世界文学史からも異例である、11世紀を前後に成立した日本の女性文学における手紙の機能を考察した。仮名という表現道具を手にした女性の手紙、仮名消息文を軸として、文学的装置としての機能を掘り下げていった。その結果、仮名消息という手紙が女性の自己表現のメディアとして機能することで、心理的内面を特徴とする女性の文学が成立したことが分かった。具体的には、日本の女性文学を代表する『源氏物語』の作者である紫式部の日記、『紫式部日記』の仮名消息文に着目した。従来言われている記録文から仮名消息文への一変に注目し、その転換の意味を自己表現のメディアとしての手紙の機能をもって鮮明にした。特に日記の展開を綿密に分析し、仮名消息という手紙の形式が、自己内面の吐露へ進む文学的な装置として機能していることを明らかにした。しかも『紫式部日記』の仮名消息文での手紙の機能が『源氏物語』でも共鳴していることを薫の手紙をめぐる最後の場面の分析を通して確認した。まさに自己表現のメディアとして手紙の機能を掘り下げることで、紫式部の自己語りの能動的なエクリチュールの特徴を鮮明にすることができた。

영문 초록

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the functions and roles of letters as a medium of self-narrative in Japanese women’s literature during Heian Dynasty. This paper focuses on the functions of kanashosoku, letters written in kana, as a literary device from the fact that Japanese women’s literature, which was established early in a world literature history, was not written in the traditional men’s character “kanji” but in the women’s character “kana”. Based on “The Diary of MurasakiShikibu”, featuring MurasakiShikibu, the author of world-famous Japanese women’s literature, “The Tale of Genji”, the main focus ison discovering the meaning and roles of letters in the narrative behind the transition from literal record to kanashosoku-bun. That is, the paper examines features of self-expressional writing of MurasakiShikibu’s letters. Further, with an emphasis on letters as a literary expression, the study sheds light on how the description of personal relationships and internal-self led to the profound understanding of the fundamentals of reality and human society, and how it is represented in monogatari world from later periods. By studying contradictory natures of the characters in the letters from the last chapter of “The Tale of Genji”, it is possible to look into the meaning of writing letters as a self-expression from kanashosoku-bun in MurasakiShikibu’s “The Diary of MurasakiShikibu”.
