교수지원 프로그램을 통한 역량기반 교육과정 개발이 대학생의 학업 성과에 미치는 효과 연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 대학에서 교수지원 프로그램을 통해 개발된 역량기반 교육과정이 대학생의 역량과 학업성취에 미치는 효과를 확인하고자 수행되었다. C대학에서 시행되고 있는 역량기반 교과개발 교수지원 프로그램에 참여한 교수 11명과 역량기반 교과목 수강 학생 386명이 연구에 참여하였다. 2015년 2학기 교수지원 프로그램에 참여한 교수들은 하계방학 기간 동안 1인당 1 교과목에 대해 맞춤형 역량기반 교육과정 개발하여 2학기 한 학기동안 수업을 진행하였다. 해당 과목을 수강했던 학생들의 자료를 수집하여 결과를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 학생들의 핵심역량이 수업을 들은 후 향상된 것으로 확인되었다. 또한 역량기반으로 개발된 과목을 들은 학생들은 이전 학기에 비해 개인의 학업 성취도의 향상도 확인되었다. 또한 학생들의 역량기반 과목에 대한 수업 만족도는 역량 과목 외 수강하고 있는 다른 수업들에 비해 뚜렷하게 높은 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과들은 프로그램에 참여했던 교수들이 가르친 역량기반 과목이 아닌 다른 수업의 학생들에게서까지 유사하게 나타났다. 본 연구의 결과는 대학에서 역량기반으로 개발된 교육과정은 대학생들의 역량과 학업성취에 직접적으로 영향을 미칠 가능성과, 교수지원 프로그램이 이를 실현하기 위한 하나의 방법이 될 수 있다고 제안하였다.

영문 초록

The study was conducted to examine the effects of competency-based curriculum developed by individualized faculty development program on undergraduates’learning outcomes(core competency, academic achievement and class satisfaction). Total 11 faculties who applied for the program participated in two workshops about competency development and designed competency-based curriculum. The program provided individual feedback about their course design. The data were collected from 386 students who took the courses developed through the program. The results are as follows. Undergraduates’core competencies were enhanced by competency-based class in the end of semester. Academic performances were improved by comparison with the former semester. Also, class satisfaction with the competency-based course were rated significantly higher than the rest of courses students taken. Besides, these findings were observed in data from students who took classes not with competency-based curriculums but with the same instructors participated in the faculty program. Implications for the utility and the benefit of a faculty program to develop a competency-based curriculum were discussed.
