유아교사들이 말하는 과학수업의 어려움 탐색

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아교사들이 현장에서 실제 과학수업의 경험과 이에 따르는 다양한 어려움을 심층적으로 이해하고자 하였다. 연구를 위해 유아교육현장에서 과학수업을 충분히 경험한 경력 5년 이상의 유아교사 5인을 대상으로 개별심층면담을 진행하고 수집된 자료를 질적으로 분석하였다. 연구 결과 유아교사들은 유아과학교육의 중요성을 인식하고는 있지만 실제 과학수업에서는 다양한 맥락적 요소들로 인해 어려움을 경험하고 있었다. 첫째, 물리적환경의 어려움으로 과학관련 교재교구의 관리 및 필요한 교재교구를 구입하지 못하는데서 오는 어려움, 물리적인 시간의 제한으로 충분한 과학수업이 이루어지지 않는 것을 과학수업의 어려움으로 인식하고 있었다. 둘째, 교육과정과의 연계, 유아와의 상호작용, 교수학습 계획과 같은 전반적인 과학수업의 교수학습 방법을 어려워하는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 인적환경인 원장, 유아, 학부모들과 관계에서 오는 다양한 경험들은 유아교사들이 과학수업을 어렵게 인식하게 하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구를 통해서 그동안 선행연구에서 나타난 유아교사들의 과학수업의 어려움을 보다 구체적으로 이해하고 유아교사들이 보다 효과적인 과학수업을 진행할 수 있도록 하는 제도적 개선이나 재교육 등의 기초 자료를 제공하고자 한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to understand in depth the experiences of early childhood science teachers and their various difficulties in the field. For the study, 5 in - service teachers who had experience of science lessons in early childhood education were interviewed and analyzed qualitatively. The results of this study indicate that early childhood teachers are aware of the importance of early childhood science education but experienced difficulties due to various contextual factors in actual science class. First, the difficulty of the physical environment caused difficulties in the management of science - related teaching materials and difficulties in purchasing required teaching materials, and the difficulty of science teaching due to the limitation of physical time. Second, it seems to be difficult to teach teaching methods of overall science classes such as linking with curriculum, interaction with infant, teaching plan. Third, various experiences in relation with the director, preschooler, and parents who are human environment showed that early childhood teachers are hard to recognize science class. The purpose of this study is to provide basic data on institutional improvement and retraining that enable early childhood teachers to understand the difficulties of science teaching in early childhood education and to enable more effective science teaching by early childhood teachers.
