고전소설의 경제적 유통과 그 의미

국문 초록

이 글은 고전소설의 경제적 유통을, 구연에 의한 생업적 유통과 문헌에 의한 산업적 유통으로 나누어 검토한 것이다. 이를 바탕으로 고전소설의 경제적 유통이 갖는 의미를 몇 가지로 나누어 살펴보았다. 먼저 고전소설의 구연에 의한 생업적 유통을 살펴보았다. 고전소설의 구연자들은 생업을 위하여 고전소설을 적극적으로 활용하였다. 생업의 방식에 따라 寄食型과 邀錢型으로 나눌 수 있는데, 전자가 재상가나 부호가에 숙식하는 것이라면, 후자는 가항에서 불특정다수에게 소설을 구연하여 경제적 이익을 도모한 것이다. 다음으로 고전소설의 문헌에 의한 산업적 유통을 고찰하였다. 고전소설에 대한 수요의 급증과 그에 맞는 공급책을 모색하는 과정에서 출판업이나 유통업이 나타났다. 이 또한 둘로 나눌 수 있는데, 하나는 문헌의 생산과 상업적 유통이고, 다른 하나는 문헌의 전파와 상품적 유통이다. 전자가 책을 제조하는 것이라면 후자는 책을 유통시키는 것이라 할 수 있다. 이는 고전소설이 제조업과 유통업을 통해 확산된 것이라 할 수 있다. 산업적 유통은 다시 판본과 필사본으로, 상품적 유통 또한 정착형과 이주형으로 나눌 수 있다. 고전소설은 이러한 구도 속에서 경제나 자본의 논리에 따라 변개ㆍ유통될 수밖에 없었다. 마지막으로 고전소설의 경제적 유통과 그 의미를 조망해 보았다. 경제적 유통은 수용층의 기호를 대거 수렴하여 고전소설이 작자 중심의 문학보다는 수용자, 즉 독자 중심의 문학이 되도록 했다. 독자 중심의 문학을 지향하여 고전소설은 민중문학ㆍ통속문학적인 성격이 강화될 수밖에 없었다. 이처럼 민중의 기층문학으로 유통되어 고전소설은 지금에 와서도 대중의 문화예술로 어렵지 않게 변용될 수 있었던 것이다.

영문 초록

Until now, it is studied about the economic distribution of Korean Romans. First it is considered professional distribution of narration and industrial distribution of literature, and then the meaning of economical distribution is discussed. The main contents is summarized as follows. First, it is studied about professional distribution of narration in korean novel. Korean novel could be spread synchronically through popular narration. The main agent of these distribution is a novel narrator precisely. This narrator is actively used to korean novel for a profession. The professional distribution of narration is divided into two parts. the one is professional distribution for parasitization and the other is professional distribution for collecting money. But all these are search for economical profit as to narrate navel. Like this korean novel is closed to economic or capital in the late of Chosun Dinasty. Second, it is studied about industrial distribution of literature through literature of korean novel. Korean novel is distributed industrial. In the process of rush and supply finding, publishing and distribution industry is involved in. This is divided into two parts. The one is literature production and commercial distribution, and the other is literature spread and product distribution. Korean novel is distributed across economic or capital logic within these composition. Third, it is studied about economical distribution of korean novel and its meaning. Economical distribution of korean novel is bought about various change inside and outside of work. First, for an economical aims, so taste of acceptance person could collect then korean novel is to be a reader-oriented literature. Korean novel is aimed at a reader-oriented literature, so it could be strengthened a nature of public literature or popular literature. And it is distributed a basic literature of the public, so korean novel can be change a cultural arts of public easily. Until now korean novel is to be in the limelight, because of these basis.
