국문 초록

본 연구는 수작업이 갖는 공예의 교육적 의미를 탐색하며 사회적 소통과 실천으로서 공예 교육의 의미를 고찰하고 2015개정 미술과 교육과정에 따른 초등 미술과 교과서의 공예 영역의 분석과 대안을 제안하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 공예가 지닌 수작업의 의미를 살펴보고, 크래프티비즘과 같은 다양한 사회적 소통과 실천 사례를 고찰하였다. 초등 공예 교육이 재료와 제작 방법을 익히는 기능 중심의 공예 교육, 실용성과 아름다움을 추구하는 공예 교육 그리고 전통 공예와 여러 나라의 공예를 중심으로 한 미술 문화 이해라는 특징을 지닌다. 이에 대한 대안으로 공예 활동이 지닌 교육적 의의를 수작업의 가치와 즐거움 및 주체자로서 학생의 역할을 강조하였다. 또한 재료와 제작 방법 중심과 실용성과 아름다움 위주의 공예 교육에서 벗어나서 사회적 소통과 실천으로서 공예 교육의 확장된 관점을 제안하였다. 학교의 공예 교육은 학생들의 삶과 연관지으며 역동적인 공예의 새로운 역할을 반영하여야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

This study explores the educational meaning of handwork, examines the meaning of craft education as social communication and practice, analyzes the contents of the art textbook, and proposes alternatives. The meaning of handwork in crafts was examined, and various social communication and practices such as craftivism were discussed. Through this analysis, the current craft education is characterized by function-oriented craft education that learns materials and making methods, craft education that pursues practicality and beauty, and understanding cultural diversity centered on craft culture in various countries. As an alternative to this, the educational significance of craft activities was emphasized on the value and enjoyment of handcraft work, and the role of students as subjects. Furthermore, an expanded perspective of craft education was proposed as a social communication and practice, away from craft education centered on materials and manufacturing methods and focused on practicality and beauty. The school craft education should be related to the lives of students and should reflect the new role of dynamic craft.
