랜덤포레스트를 활용한 외국인 유학생의 진로개발역량 예측변수 탐색

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 랜덤포레스트를 활용하여 외국인 유학생의 진로개발역량 예측요인을 탐색하는 것이다. 이를 위하여 삼성꿈장학재단의 패널데이터의 외국인 장학생 207명의 자료를 활용하였다. 랜덤포레스트 기법을 활용하여 분석하였으며, 설명변수로 총 24개의 변수를 선정하였다. 연구결과 첫째, 외국인 유학생의 진로개발역량에 미치는 영향이 큰 변수는 ‘성취목표 지향성’, ‘문제해결능력’, ‘학업노력’, ‘심리적불안감’, ‘리더십’, ‘배움에 대한 태도’, ‘학교적응’, ‘무력감’, ‘창의력’, ‘한국에 대한 신뢰’로 나타났다. 첫째, 설명변수 중 ‘성취목표지향성’, ‘문제해결능력’, ‘학업노력’, ‘리더십’, ‘배움에 대한 태도’, ‘한국에 대한 신뢰’는 특성 수준이 높을수록 외국인 유학생의 진로개발역량 수준도 높아지는 것으로 확인되었다. 둘째, 학교적응과 창의력은 일정 수준까지는 진로개발역량에 정적 영향을 주지만 아주 높은 수준일 때 진로개발역량 수준이 부적 영향을 주는 것으로 나타났다. 셋째, 무력감과 심리적 불안감 수준이 높을수록 진로개발역량 수준이 낮아지는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로 외국인 유학생의 진로개발역량을 증진시킬 수 있는 방안과 연구의 한계점을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to explore the predictors of international students' career development competency using the random forest. For this analysis, data from 207 international scholarship students were obtained from the panel data of the Samsung Dream Scholarship Foundation. A total of 24 variables were selected as explanatory variables and analyzed using the random forest method. The results indicate that key factors significantly influencing international students' career development competency include achievement goal orientation, problem-solving ability, academic effort, psychological anxiety, leadership, attitude toward learning, school adjustment, helplessness, creativity, and trust in Korea. First, among the explanatory variables, higher levels of achievement goal orientation, problem-solving ability, academic effort, leadership, attitude toward learning, and trust in Korea were associated with higher career development competency among international students. Second, while school adjustment and creativity positively influenced career development competency up to a certain threshold, excessively high levels of these factors had a negative impact. Third, higher levels of helplessness and psychological anxiety were linked to lower career development competency. Based on these findings, this study discusses strategies to enhance international students' career development competency and outlines its limitations.
