국문 초록

본 연구는 충청남도 농촌 지역에 거주하는 노인의 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 주요요인들을 분석하고, 자살 예방을 위한 실질적인 개입 방안을 제시하고자 수행되었다. 연구를 위해, 2023년도『충청남도 사회조사』의 원자료를 활용하였으며, 농촌에 거주하는 노인 응답자를 추출한 후, 로지스틱 회귀분석을 통해 자살생각에 영향을 미치는 주요 요인들을 도출하였다. 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 개인적 특성 중 종교를 가진 노인들이 자살생각을 더 많이 보고 한 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 정서적 특성에서는 행복과 우울이 자살생각에 중요한 영향을 미쳤다. 구체적으로, 행복감이 증가할수록 자살생각이 감소하는 경향을 보였으며, 우울감이 심할수록 자살생각이 증가하는 경향이 관찰되었다. 셋째, 경제적 특성으로 생계유지의 어려움이 자살생각과 밀접한 상관관계를 가지는 것으로 분석되었다. 마지막으로, 사회적 특성 역시 자살생각에 영향을 미쳤는데, 특히 사회 안전에 대한 불안감이나 교통 이용의 어려움이 자살생각을 증가시키는 주요 요인으로 확인되었다. 요약하면, 농촌 지역 노인의 자살생각에는 정서적, 경제적, 사회적 특성들이 유의미한 영향을 미치는 것으로 밝혀졌다. 이를 바탕으로, 노인의 자살률을 감소시킬 수 있는 다각적인 예방 및 개입 방안이 논의되었다.

영문 초록

This study aims to analyze the major factors influencing suicidal ideation among elderly individuals residing in rural areas of Chungcheongnam-do, and to propose practical intervention strategies for suicide prevention. For this purpose, raw data from the 『2023 Chungcheongnam-do Social Survey』 were utilized, and elderly respondents living in rural areas were extracted for analysis. Logistic regression analysis was conducted to identify significant factors affecting suicidal ideation. The key findings of the study are as follows. First, elderly individuals with religious affiliations reported higher levels of suicidal ideation. Second, happiness and depression were found to be significant predictors of suicidal ideation. Specifically, an increase in happiness was associated with a decrease in suicidal ideation, whereas severe depressive symptoms were linked to a higher likelihood of experiencing suicidal thoughts. Third, economic difficulties, particularly challenges in maintaining a stable livelihood, were closely correlated with suicidal ideation. Lastly, social characteristics also played a crucial role in suicidal ideation, with anxiety about social safety and difficulties in transportation being identified as major contributing factors. Based on these findings, comprehensive suicide prevention and intervention strategies were discussed to reduce suicide rates among the elderly population.
