국문 초록

연구목적 본 연구는 초등학생을 대상으로 수행 기반 실행기능 측정 도구와 평정 기반 실행기능 측정 도구 간의 관계를 파악하고, 실행기능 평가에서의 시사점을 도출하는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 연구방법 세종특별자치시 초등학생 101명을 대상으로 수행 기반 실행기능 측정 도구(Go/Nogo, Digit Span, Tower of Hanoi, Task Switching, Stroop, WCST)와 사회정서 역량 진단 도구를 포함하는 평정 기반 실행기능 측정 도구(한국어판 바클리 실행기능 결핍 척도 등)를 활용해 데이터를 수집하였으며, 기술통계 및 상관관계 분석을 실시하였다. 연구결과 수행 기반 실행 기능 측정 도구 간에는 유의미한 상관관계가 나타났으며, 일부 평정 기반 실행기능 측정 도구와도 상관관계가 확인되었다. 수행 기반 실행기능 측정 도구 중 일부 과제는 평정 기반 실행기능 측정 도구의 특정 하위 요인에 제한적인 상관관계가 나타났다. 수행 기반 실행기능 측정 도구는 대부분의 사회정서역량 하위요인과 유의미한 관계가 없었으나, 평정 기반 실행기능 측정도구는 사회정서역량의 여러 하위 요인과 높은 상관관계가 나타났다. 결론 수행 기반 도구는 전통적 실행기능 요소를 평가하는 데 주로 활용되었지만, 사회정서역량과의 관계에서는 제한적이었다. 반면, 평정 기반 도구는 정서적 조절과 사회적 상호작용을 포함하는 확장적 실행기능 요소를 반영하여, 학생의 일상 생활 및 학습 환경에서의 실행기능 발휘 양상을 폭넓게 반영할 수 있음을 시사한다. 따라서, 실행기능의 확장적 개념을 포괄할 수 있는 평가 도구의 개발이 필요하며, 이를 통해 학생의 실행기능을 보다 효과적으로 지원할 수 있는 기반이 마련될 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the relationship between performance-based and rating-based measures of executive functions (EFs) in elementary school students and to derive implications for EF assessment. Methods: Data were collected from 101 elementary school students in Sejong City using performance-based EF measures (Go/Nogo, Digit Span, Tower of Hanoi, Task Switching, Stroop, WCST) and rating-based EF measures, including the Social-Emotional Competence Diagnostic Tool and the Korean version of the Barkley Deficits in Executive Functioning Scale. Descriptive statistics and correlation analyses were conducted. Results: Significant correlations were observed among the performance-based EF measures, with several correlations also identified between performance-based and specific subcomponents of the rating-based EF measures. However, correlations between performance-based measures and most subcomponents of social-emotional competence were limited. In contrast, rating-based EF measures showed strong correlations with various subcomponents of social-emotional competence. Conclusion: Performance-based measures were primarily effective in assessing traditional EF components but showed limitations in their relationship with social-emotional competence. On the other hand, rating-based measures reflected expanded EF components, such as emotional regulation and social interactions, providing a broader perspective on EFs as exhibited in students’ daily lives and learning environments. These findings highlight the need to develop assessment tools that encompass the expanded concept of EFs, laying the foundation for more effective support of students' EFs.
