국문 초록

가사의 주된 쟁점은 갈래에 있으며, 여기에는 여러 학설이 공존한다. 지금까지 제기된 갈래 논의를 종합하면, 서정·서사·희곡·교술 등의 성격을 모두 갖고 있는 것이라고 말할 수 있다. 가사는 그만큼 다양성을 생명으로 하는 문학인 것이다. 이렇듯 가사의 갈래 성격이 복합적이고 포괄적이라고 보는 데에는 큰 이견이 없다. 다만, 여타 문학과의 변별성을 말할 때에는 특히 교술성을 통해 그 차이점을 발견할 수 있다고 보는 것이 저간의 사정이기도 하다. 이 연구에서는 가사의 이러한 교술 성격이 조선 후기에 극대화되는 지점에 이르러, 교본 성격으로까지 구체화되고 있다는 점을 밝혔다. 이는 교육과 문학의 상호 작용을 확인해 주는 중요한 단서로써, 조선 후기 교육 저변의 확대와 밀접한 관련성 속에 지어졌다는 점 또한 주목할 만하다. 그리고 이러한 사실을 규명하기 위해 <八域歌>와 <五倫歌>를 각기 인문지리서로 당대 최고의 교양 교본의 역할을 하였던 『擇里志』와 조선 유교의 핵심적 교양 교본의 자리를 차지하고 있었던 『小學』과 대비함으로써, 그 문헌적 관련성과 함께 교본성 가사의 조선 후기 교육적 기능과 문학적 형상화의 의미를 새롭게 조명하였다.

영문 초록

There are a variety of views about the genre of the Gasa. By all accounts discussed up to now, Gasa includes lyrics, epics, dramas and instructions. The Gasa also contains comprehensive literary aspects. Theorefore, the genre of the Gasa is composite, however it is especially instructive and that distinguishes the Gasa from any other form of literature. This study has show that the instructive aspects of Gasa were largly used at the end of the Joseon Dynasty. In addition, they were developed into an educational manual. This combined education and literature and helped to increase the level of education in the Joseon Dynasty. The meaning of the educational function of Gyobongasa has shed new light on the educational influences of the Joseon Dynasty by comparing , and 「Taegliji」-the reigining and liberal areas in those days, and 「Sohag」- the main text book in Confucianism.
