국문 초록

논술은 의사소통 능력을 길러 건전한 민주 시민으로 살아가도록 하기 위해서 필요하다. 의사소통을 원활하게 하기 위해서는 탐구력, 비판력, 창의력, 통찰력 등이 필요한 데, 문제는 어떤 방법으로 이와 같은 고등 정신 기능을 신장시키느냐 하는 것이다. 탐구력, 비판력, 창의력, 통찰력 등을 포함한 고등 정신 기능은 건전한 민주 시민으로 살아가는 데 필수적인 요건이다. 그렇기 때문에 논술 교육은 특정 학생이 아니라 모든 학생을 대상으로 해야 한다. 논술 교육이 원활하게 이루어지기 위해서는 통합교과적인 지도가 필요하다. 각 교과 교사들은 학생들이 편협한 사고의 틀에서 벗어나 자유분방한 사고를 할 수 있도록 도와주어야 하며 학생들의 상상력과 사고력을 확장시키는데 심혈을 기울여야 한다. 본고에서는 논술 교육의 목표를 학생들이 건전한 민주 시민으로서 원활하게 의사소통을 할 수 있는 사람으로 성장하도록 지도하는 것이라고 보고, 논술력을 신장시키기 위해 연암의 글을 활용할 수 있는 방안을 모색하는 데 중점을 두었다. 연암은 당시 유행하던 고문(古文)의 장점을 본받되 틀에 얽매이지 않는 사고를 했으며, 이를 바탕으로 창의적인 글쓰기를 통해 본인의 생각과 사상을 표출한 사람이기 때문이다.

영문 초록

Essay writing is necessary to help students to make better life as democratic citizens by improving communicative ability. To communicate well, the ability of inquiry, the ability of criticism, the ability of creativity, and the insight are essential abilities ; however, the problem is how we could get those abilities to be improved. Higher mental abilities including those four abilities are essential elements for leading a decent life as a sound citizen. Thus the education for the essay writing should be taught for democratic not just a certain type of students but all the students regardless of any social and economic background. To get the education for essay writing flow effectively, teachers need to give instructions based on the integrative courses. Teachers in each course should help students to think more liberally departing from narrow and biased way of thinking. Furthermore, teachers should concentrate on expanding students' imagination and thinking ability. The high school where I work for the goal of the education for essay writing ; teaching students to grow up well as the sound, democratic citizens who are able to communicate well with other people in the future. Therefore, we are focusing on finding ways to use the writings of Yeon-am, in order to achieve the goal of teaching essay writing. The reason why we choose him for the education for the essay writing is that Yeon-am, tried to think liberally without any fixed and monotonous thinking frame as well as to accept the good points from the ancient writings that were popular at that time; moreover, he expressed his thought and ideology through creative writings.
