한·일(韓日) ‘늘어난 코’ 설화의 문학교육적 가치에 관한 고찰

국문 초록

본고에서는 한국과 일본에 전하는 ‘늘어난 코’ 설화의 의미를 알아보고, 이를 바탕으로 ‘늘어난 코’ 설화의 문학교육적 가치를 알아보았다. 우선, 한국의 <날아간 행복>과 일본의 <鮒になった源五郎(붕어가 된 겐고로)>의 개요를 중심으로 설화의 의미를 고찰해 보았다. 한국의 ‘늘어난 코’ 설화 <날아간 행복>에는 인간과 지상의 갈등과 동기의 실현, 인간과 천상의 갈등과 동기의 좌절, 수평적 확장의 실현과 수직적 상승의 좌절 등의 의미가 있었다. 그리고 일본의 ‘늘어난 코’ 설화 <鮒になった源五郎(붕어가 된 겐고로)>에서는 인간과 지상의 조화와 동기의 실현, 인간과 천상의 갈등과 동기의 좌절, 수평적 확장의 실현과 수직적 상승의 좌절 등의 의미를 살필 수 있었다. 제재를 비교한 결과, 한국과 일본의 ‘늘어난 코’ 설화는 주체, 도구, 대상, 신격 등의 측면에서 차이가 있었다. 특히 코를 늘이는 도구에서 그 차이가 두드러졌는데, 한국은 부채이고 일본은 북이었다. 사건을 비교한 결과, 한국과 일본의 ‘늘어난 코’ 설화는 공통적으로 ‘결핍 - 결핍의 제거 - 금지 - 위반 - 결과’의 순서로 전개됨을 알 수 있었다. 하지만 설화의 결말에서는 한국과 일본의 차이점을 볼 수 있었다. 한국 설화에서는 신의 엄격성을, 일본 설화에서는 신의 이중성을 읽을 수 있었다. 의미를 비교한 결과, 한국의 <날아간 행복>과 일본의 <鮒になった源五郎(붕어가 된 겐고로)>는 이야기 차원에서는 같고 담론 차원에서는 다르다고 보아, 두 설화는 친연성과 관련성이 아주 깊은 이야기라고 보았다. 위의 결과를 바탕으로 한국과 일본의 ‘늘어난 코’ 설화에 나타난 문학교육적 가치를 고구해 보았다. 한국과 일본의 ‘늘어난 코’ 설화에는 악행필벌(惡行必罰)의 인과성, 욕망의 상승 의지와 한계, 세계관의 유사성과 다양성 등의 가치가 공통적으로 나타남을 알 수 있었다. 이는 각각 내용 고찰, 내용 이해, 내용 해석의 과정을 통해 추출할 수 있는 가치였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to investigate the literary educational value of ‘extended nose’ folktales in Korea and Japan. Therefore, I tried to arrange a outline of Korea's and Japan's . After I observed the meaning of folktales with priority given to the outline, I realized that , which is Korea's ‘extended nose’ folktales, has meaning of the discord between human beings and earth, the realization of motives, the discord between human beings and heaven, the realization of horizontal expansion, the frustration of vertical rising and so on. , which is Japan's ‘extended nose’ folktale, shows meaning of accord between human beings and earth, the realization of motives, the discord between human beings and heaven, the frustration of motives, the realization of horizontal expansion, the frustration of vertical rising, etc. Considering the materials of two folktales, I noticed that Korea's ‘extended nose’ folktales are different from those of Japan in the side of subject, the tool, the object and divinity etc. There is the sharp difference in the tool which makes the nose longer. In Korea's folktales the tool is ‘the fan’, while it's ‘the drum’ in those of Japan. The result of comparing the incidents results in the fact that both Korea's ‘extended nose’ folktales and Japan's ‘extended nose’ folktales develop in the order of ‘Lack - Lack Liquidated - Interdiction - Violation - Consequence’. However, there is difference in the end of the folktales. While I can find out the strict divinity through the Korea's folktales, I can do the duplicity of God through Japan's. When compared with the meaning of the two folktales, Korea's and Japan's ‘extended nose’ folktales have close correlation. Because the two folktales are same in the story dimension but different in the discourse dimension. Based on the above results, I study literary educational value of ‘extended nose’ folktales in Korea and Japan. In Korea's and Japan's ‘extended nose’ folktales commonly appear the values of these; the necessity between evil deeds and punishments, the rising will and limitation of the desire, similarity and diversity of world recognition, etc.
