국문 초록

목적: 본 연구의 목적은 한국어 학습자의 상호문화 의사소통 능력(intercultural communicative competence, ICC)을 향상시키기 위한 교육 방안을 마련하는 데 있다. 방법: 상호문화 의사소통 교육의 방안을 제시함에 있어 상호문화 의사소통의 개념과 상호문화 의사소통 능력의 구성 요소에 대해 고찰하였다. 이후 한국어 교재 분석을 통해 문화 영역의 내용 범주와 활동 방법에 대해 살펴보았다. 결과: 지금까지 한국어 교재에서는 문화 영역을 단원 구성 요소의 하나로 여겨 따로 분리하여 가르치는 경향을 보였다. 이에 문화 지식과 태도, 기술을 융합하고 말하기, 읽기, 듣기, 쓰기의 언어 기능과 연계할 수 있는 상호문화 의사소통 교수 모형을 제안하였다. 결론: 상호문화 의사소통 교육은 학습자가 타문화와 자문화를 객관적으로 인식하고 목표 언어의 문화를 존중함으로써 의사소통의 어려움을 극복해 나가는 상호 적응 능력을 기를 수 있도록 하는 것이다. 이는 다원화된 사회에서 세계 시민으로서 갖추어야 할 능력을 함양할 수 있도록 해 줄 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to prepare educational plans to improve the intercultural communicative competence of Korean learners. Methods: In presenting the pedagogical plan for intercultural communication education, its concept and components were considered. In an analysis of Korean textbooks, the content categories and activity methods of cultural items were examined. Results: Until recently, Korean textbooks tended to refer to cultural items as a single unit of lecture components, and these were segregated from the rest of the curriculum in Korean classes. Hence, an instructional model for teaching intercultural communication that can integrate cultural knowledge, attitudes, and skills was suggested. It proposes linking the cultural elements with the language functions of speaking, reading, listening, and writing. Conclusion: Intercultural communication education enables learners to develop mutual adaptability to overcome communication barriers by teaching them to objectively recognize their own cultures and by increasing their respect for the culture of the target language. This will allow the students to cultivate the ability to become global citizens in a multicultural society.
