한국 현대소설에서의 백석 수용

국문 초록

이 논문은 우리 현대소설에서 백석이 어떻게 수용되었는지를 검토한 것이다. 이병주 소설들(『망향』, 『산하』, ｢세우지 않은 비명｣)의 삽입시인 ｢적막강산｣, 김소진 소설(｢갈매나무를 찾아서｣)의 삽입시인 ｢남신의주유동박시봉방｣, 김연수 소설(『일곱 해의 마지막』)의 삽입시인 ｢나와 나타샤와 흰 당나귀｣ 등이 이들 소설에 수용되며 새롭게 해석되는 양상과 소설 작품 속 이들 삽입시의 기능이 논의의 초점이다. ｢적막강산｣은 이병주 소설들에서 1920년 전후 출생 지식인들의 삶과 내면을 상징적으로 보여주는 작품으로 해석되어 수용됨으로써 이 세대 지식인 일반의 세대적 특성을 드러내고, 나아가 때로는 부정적인 대상에 대한 적의를 기르고 때로는 등장인물의 정직한 자기 성찰과 반성으로 이끄는 매개로 기능한다. ｢남신의주유동박시봉방｣은 ｢갈매나무를 찾아서｣에 수용되어, 과거 무화와 낭만적 초월을 경계하며 견인의 의지와 지속적인 생명 활동의 의지로써 1990년대 변동의 현실에 적극적으로 대응하는 정신을 효과적으로 드러낸다. 『일곱 해의 마지막』에는 백석 시 전부라 말해도 무방할 정도로 많은 백석 시가 수용되었는데 ｢나와 나타샤와 흰 당나귀｣가 중심이다. 타락한 현실과 단호히 결별하는 강한 부정의 정신과 ‘시 세계로의 존재 전이’라는 개성적인 서사소가 결합하여, 상상의 시공간으로 망명하는 정신이 걷는 긍정과 낙관의 행로를 뚜렷이 떠올림으로써 전체주의적 독재 권력이 지배하는 북한 사회를 근본 부정하는 한편 어떤 권력도 해체하는 시의 힘을 증거한다. 우리의 논의를 문학교육의 장에 적용하면, 매우 생산적인 문학 수용 활동을 열 수 있다. 먼저 ‘문학 작품의 비판적 수용과 창의적 수용’이라는 문학교육의 한 핵심 성취기준에 대한 깊은 이해가 가능하다. 나아가 백석 시와 소설에 수용된 백석 시 사이의 관계를 살피는 상호텍스트적 수용 활동을 통해 보다 깊은 백석 시 이해에 나아갈 수 있으며, 열린 시 해석을 가능하게 하는 주체적인 자세를 기를 수 있을 것이다.

영문 초록

This paper examines how Baek Seok’s poems was accepted in korean modern novels of Lee Byung-ju. Kim So-jin and Kim Yeon-soo. The focus of discussion is on the aspects that are newly interpreted in these novels and the functions of these interpolation poems in the novel works. In the novels of Lee Byung-joo, “Dead quiet”(적막강산) is interpreted and accepted as a symbol of the life and inner side of intellectuals born before and after 1920, it clearly reveals the generational characteristics of this generation, and sometimes functions as a medium for honest self-reflection and reflection of characters. “Namshinuijuyudongparksibongbang”(｢남신의주유동박시봉방｣) effectively reveals the theme of actively responding to the reality of fluctuations in the 1990s with the will of towing and continuous life activities as it was accepted in “On the Way to a Buckthorn”(｢갈매나무를 찾아서｣). The representative insertion poem of “The Last of the Seven Years”(｢일곱 해의 마지막｣) is “Me, Natasha, and the White Donkey”(｢나와 나타샤와 흰 당나귀｣). The combination of the spirit of denial that breaks with the corrupt reality and the epic of ‘transition of existence to the time world’ clearly reminded me of the path of positivity and optimism that the spirit of exile in imaginary time and space, which is dominated by totalitarian dictatorship. Applying our discussion to the chapter of literature education can open very productive literary acceptance activities. First of all, it is possible to deeply understand one key achievement standard of literature education called ‘Critical Acceptance and Creative Acceptance of Literature Works’. Furthermore, through intertextual acceptance activities that examine the relationship between Baek Seok’s poem and Baek Seok’s poem accepted in the novel, it will be possible to advance deeper understanding of Baek Seok’s poems and develop a subjective attitude that enables open poetry interpretation.
