신여성(문인)들의 동경 유학 체험 연구

국문 초록

이 글은 ‘일본 유학’이라는 것을 열쇳말(누빔점)으로 하여, 김일엽의 문단 및 생애를 중심에 놓고 그 의미를 탐구하고자 한다. 김일엽은 앞서 언급했듯 일생 중 총 두 번 이상(1918년 전후, 1921년 이후)의 일본 유학을 결행했던 것으로 파악된다. 그리고 그 두 번 이상의 일본 유학은 김일엽 자신을 둘러싼 상황의 급변함을 알려주는 것으로, 여성의 지위를 둘러싼 김일엽의 태도, 교유 관계 등이 크게 재편되었던 양상을 보여준다. 다만 김일엽이 자신의 유학 생활에 대해 직접적으로 언급한 자료가 드문 까닭에-동시대 교유했던 (여성) 유학생, 문인들의 증언, 유학 경험 회고 등과 함께 견주어 살펴볼 필요가 있다. 여러 차례에 걸친 김일엽의 일본 유학은 각각 김일엽 생의 주요한 전환점이 되고 있음이 확인된다. 김일엽은 대정기 일본 내 여러 사상(페미니즘, 아나키즘)을 자신의 사상과 결부 및 발전시키면서, 여성 해방, 나아가 개인 해방의 목소리를 일관되게 내보였다. 그러나 여러 차례의 일본 유학에도 불구하고, 일본 제국주의, 사회 주류 여성론(‘양처현모’)과 끊임없이 거리를 두었다는 점은 특히 기억해 둘 필요가 있겠다. 물론 아들인 김태신의 존재에 대한 태도에서 보듯 김일엽의 유학 경험은 김일엽 스스로에 의해 보다 본격적으로 발화되지 못했다는 점에서 아쉬움이 남는다. 그리고 이는 김일엽의 일본 유학 경험과 관련한 상황들이 계속 새롭게 써져야 하는 현재형 과제임을 말해주는 것이라고 생각된다.

영문 초록

This article aims to explore the meaning of Kim Il-yeop’s literary circles and life, with the key word “studying in Japan” at the center. As mentioned earlier, Kim Il-yeop is believed to have studied in Japan more than twice in her life (around 1918, after 1921). And the two or more studies in Japan indicate a rapid change in the situation surrounding Kim Il-yeop herself, showing that Kim Il-yeop’s attitude and relationship surrounding the status of women have been greatly reorganized. However, since there are few data that Kim Il-yeop directly mentioned about her study abroad life, it is necessary to compare it with the testimony of (female) students, writers, and retrospects of his study abroad experience. It is confirmed that Kim Il-yeop’s several studies in Japan are each a major turning point in her life. respective Kim Il-yeop’s life. Kim Il-yeop consistently expressed the voice of women’s liberation and further personal liberation, linking and developing various ideas (feminism and anarchism) in Japan during the Taisho Period(大正). It is especially worth remembering that despite studying in Japan several times, they constantly distanced themselves from Japanese imperialism and social mainstream women’s theory (‘良妻賢母’’). Of course, as seen in the attitude of Kim Tae-shin, her son, Kim Il-yeop’s experience of studying abroad was not expressed in more earnest by Kim Il-yeop herself, leaving a sense of regret in terms of data. And this is thought to indicate that the situations related to Kim Il-yeop’s experience of studying in Japan are the current tasks that must be written continuously.
