국문 초록

이 글은 여성혐오의 시대를 거쳐, ‘지금-여기’ 다시 어떠한 감정이 사회적 공감의 기반이 될 수 있을지를 해방기 여성작가들의 문학적 실천을 통해 탐색하고자 한다. 최근 페미니즘 ‘리부트’ 혹은 대중화에 맞서는 백래시(backlash)가 몰아치고, 감염병 정국으로 다시 혐오가 공포와 결합하여 강력해지고 있다. 이때 사회적인 규범과 성 역할이 변화하면서 여성을 매개로 각종 언설들이 폭증하는 역사적 시기로 해방기(1945~1948)가 주목된다. 탈/식민 남성을 기준으로 시민성이 규정될 때, 여성이 다시 남성성을 보충하는 중요한 참조로서 감정적 존재로 지목되는 것이다. 여기에서 해방기라는 격동의 순간을 여성 스스로가 겪어내면서 어떠한 작품을 생산해냈는지, 이때 감정의 문제가 어떻게 개입되는지 주목한다. 다시 말해 카테고리로서 젠더가 재조정되는 전환기에 다시 여성도 38선 남북 분할과 좌우 이념 대립 등 정치적인 압박에서 자유로울 수 없었다. 이와 관련해 여성들은 자신의 존재를 어떻게 위치시켰는지, 시대의 압박과 더불어 주체의 역량이 어떻게 변화된 감정을 형성하게 하는지, 그 긴장과 균열에 주목해 보고자 했다. 이로서 지금 혐오를 넘어 타자를 향한 서사적 상상력을 어떻게 계발시킬지, 그 문제를 해결할 단초가 찾아지리라 기대한다.

영문 초록

This explores how certain emotions became the common foundation of social sympathy after “Here-Now” misogyny through the literary practices of female authors in the Liberation Period. Since the reemergence of feminism in recent years, backlash against feminism has become a concern and hatred has been becoming stronger in combination with fear. In this moment, the Liberation Period (1945-1948) comes to attention as a historical period that saw the significant increase in various statements that used women as a medium during a period in which social norms and gender roles began to change. When the citizenship of the self is being constructed based on the colonial or post-colonial male, women once again become important references that supplement masculinity. This essay examines such gender dynamics through works produced by women themselves in order to explore how women recognized their own existence as valuable and important under various forms of political pressure, such as the conflict between the right and the left. Furthermore, this essay examines in detail the works of female authors from the Liberation Period as the beginning of the solution to the problem of how to develop the narrative imagination towards the other in overcoming present-day hatred. Doing so will bring attention to how ideology, institutional pressure, and personal capacities distinctly produce the emotions of the times and to the tensions and rifts these processes entail.
