장애대학생과 비장애대학생의 자아개념 비교연구

국문 초록

이 연구는 장애대학생과 비장애대학생의 장애유무, 성별에 따른 자아개념의 차이가 있는지 알아보는 데 목적이 있다. 연구를 위해 대전광역시와 충청남북도 내 5개 대학교 장애대학생과 비장애대학생 87명에게 자아개념 검사를 실시하였다. 연구결과 학문적 자아 영역의 평균 점수는 두 집단간 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났으나, 비학문적 자아 영역의 평균 점수는 두 집단간 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 총 자아개념은 장애대학생과 비장애대학생 두 집단간 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 있는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 장애유무에 따른 비학문적 자아개념에는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났으며, 성별에 따라서 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 그리고 장애의 유무와 성별에 대한 상호작용에 있어서도 통계적인 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 장애유무에 따른 총 자아개념 점수와 성별에 따른 총 자아개념 점수에는 통계적으로 유의미한 차이가 없는 것으로 나타났다. 연구결과에 따라 장애대학생을 위한 자아개념 프로그램과 같은 실제적인 지원이 이루어질 필요가 있음을 논의하였다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine the self-concept of disabled and nondisabled college students and the relationship of gender to their self-concept. The subjects in this study were 87 disabled and non- disabled students at five different colleges in the city of Daejeon and south and north Chungcheong province. A self-concept inventory was utilized to assess their self-concept. The findings of the study were as follows: There was a statistically significant disparity between the two groups in academic self mean scores, but no significant intergroup gap was found in nonacademic self average scores. The two groups were statistically significantly different from each other in total self-concept. Whether they were disabled or not made no statistically significant differences to nonacademic self-concept, and gender produced no statistically significant differences, either. As for interaction between the presence or absence of disabilities and gender, their interaction made no statistically significant differences, and the presence or absence of disabilities and gender made no statistically significant differences to total self scores, either. Given the findings of the study, there was a necessity to lend more authentic assistance to disabled students, such as a support of a self-concept program.
