국문 초록

폴란드 남부의 실레지아, 그 중에서도 북쪽지역에서 사용하는 실레지아 방언을 성문화(成文化) 하는 문제는 이 언어가 지방어로 등재되는데 필요한 기금을 획득하기 위해 꼭 필요한 과정이다. 또한 합법적인 지방어로 공인받고 나면 민족어로 공인받기를 희망하게 되는데, 이러한 지역사회의 열망은 언어로 단순하게 묘사되는 것보다 훨씬 크다고 할 수 있다. 지방어가 민족어로 인정받기 위해서는 성문화된 다양한 이슈가 필요하다. 언어가 체계적으로 성문화된다면 민족어의 사회적 수용은 훨씬 더 원활해질 수 있다. 한 지역어가 체계적으로 법제화하고 성문화되기 위해서는 단계적인 접근이 필요하다. 실레지아 방언의 경우 철자나 시각적 형상화와 같은 부분은 이미 완성이 되었으나 아직도 여러 항목들이 고려되어지고 연구되어져야 한다.

영문 초록

The codification of the Silesian ethno-language - used in the region of Upper Silesia in southern Poland - is essential in order to grant it the status of the regional language. The ascription of the legal status of a regional language to a certain ethno-language raises its prestige; the social acclaim is much bigger when it comes to phenomena described as languages, than to those called simply a dialect, or a regional speech. An important role in granting the ethno-language the status of the regional language plays the issue of its written variant. The social reception of an ethno-language is better when the language has been written down. The process of codification requires a completion of all its phases. As far as the Silesian spelling and graphics are concerned, some of the issues points have already been covered, but others remain. However, other aspects of the codification of the Silesian ethno-language are less advanced. The Silesians are an ethnic group that has commenced the work of the ethno-language codification. This process of language formation in statu nascendi demands observation and analysis as a fascinating linguistic, social, and political phenomenon.
