아르게지 시에서의 포플라 나무의 상징성

국문 초록

포플러 나무는 루마니아 민요에 빈번하게 등장하며 이 포플러 나무의 이미지는 아르게지 시인의 감수성에 많은 영향을 주었다. 고대 보편적인 민속 신앙과 연관된 루마니아 민속 작품에서 나타나는 포플러 나무가 갖는 죽음, 슬픔, 고통과의 연관성은 아르게지의 시들에서도 빈번하게 나타난다. 아르게지가 이 나무에 부여한 수식어들은 은유적이고 상징적인 가치들을 이 나무에 부여하고 있다. “높은” 포플러 나무는 내재와 초월 사이의 연결이라는 의미를 갖는다. 포플러 나무들은 죽음과 삶 사이의 경계를 지키는 파수꾼으로 나타나며 저 세상으로 향하는 영혼들이 접근하는 길이 된다. “깊은 포플러 나무”는 높은 포플러 나무와는 반대로 고통의 상징이며 포플러 나뭇잎이 움직일 때 나는 소리는 깊은 고통의 속삭임이고 목소리이다. 포플러 나무는 아르게지 시에서 죽음을 상징한다. 이 아름다운 나무의 가혹하고 어두운 이미지는 인생은 영원하지 않다는 것을 같이 있는 연인들에게 상기시킨다. 포플러라는 단어는 밤, 달, 수도원, 까마귀 등과 같은 어두운 이미지의 단어들과 관계가 있으며 이 나무들을 수식하는 검은색이나 회색, 자주색 등 어두운 색깔들은 특히 죽음이나 불행의 전조를 표현한다.

영문 초록

The poplar appears frequently in Romanian folk songs and the image of the poplar has a lot of influence on the sensitivities of Arghezi. The correlation of the poplar with the ancient folk-religious beliefs like death, sadness, pain etc. appeared in Romanian folk works, and comes frequently also into Arghezi s poems. The flowery words that Arghezi gives to the poplar, reflect the metaphorical and symbolic values of this tree. This tall(high) poplar signifies the connection between the immanence and the transcendence. The poplars appear as a lookout guard who keeps the border of separation by death (in other word, the boundary between life and death) and these become personally the way through which souls come close to the road to Hades. On the contrary to this tall(high) poplar, the deep poplar is the symbol of the pain and the moving sound of this deep poplar s leaves is a voice and a whisper of pain. The poplar symbolizes also death in Arghezi s poems. The severe and dark image of this beautiful tree reminds the couple of lovers that life is not everlasting. The word poplar is related with dark images like the night, the moon, the monastery, the crow etc. and the gloomy colors like black, gray, purple etc. and articulates especially the prelude to death or unfortune.
