대한간호학회지에 게재된 실험연구의 방법론적 질 평가

국문 초록

본 연구는 2009년 대한간호학회지에 게재된 무작위대조 실험연구와 비무작위 실험연구 논문의 질 평가를 위하여 시도되었다. 총 29편의 논문을 대상으로 보고의 질(10항목), 외적 타당도(3항목), 편향(7항목), 교락변수(7항목)를 포함하는 Downs & Black(1998)의 체크리스트를 활용하여 평가하였다. 두 명의 연구자가 각각 독립적으로 평가하였으며 둘 간에 평가가 일치하지 않는 경우에는 다른 모든 연구참여자가 검토하여 합의를 이루었다. 총점의 평균은 14.8점(100점 기준 환산점수 54.8 점)으로 나타났다. 각 영역별로는 보고의 질 7.7점(70.0 점), 외적 타당도 0.5점(16.7 점), 편향 4.3점(61.4 점), 교락변수는 2.3점(38.3 점)으로 나타났으며 비무작위 실험연구에 비하여 무작위대조 실험연구의 총점이 더 높았다(p=.018). 간호학분야의 실험연구의 방법론적 질은 여전히 향상의 여지가 남아있다. 외적 타당도와 교락변수는 질 평가에서 낮은 점수를 받은 영역으로 질적 향상을 위한 노력을 더 기울여야 할 것이다.

영문 초록

Purpose: This study was aimed to assess the methodological quality of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and non-randomized controlled trials (non-RCTs) published in the “Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing” during 2009. Methods: 29 articles were evaluated the quality of reporting (10 items), external validity (3 items), bias (7 items), confounding (6 items) with Downs & Black’s checklist (1998), and total score ranged from 0 to 27. Two raters make one team and each rater was blinded to the results of the other rater. In case of disagreement between the two raters, all raters reviewed the study and came to reach consensus. Results: The mean score was 14.8 point (54.8 point based on 100 point) for total items, 7.7 point (70.0 point) for reporting, 0.5 point (16.7 point) for external validity, 4.3 point (61.4 point) for bias, and 2.3 point (38.3 point) for confounding. Total quality score showed higher in RCTs than non-RCTs (p=.018). Conclusions: The methodo- logical quality of experimental studies published in a nursing journal was not satisfactory. External validity and confounding were lower scored areas in methodological quality. Therefore, it is needed to make an effort to improve the overall methodological quality and those areas, in particular.
