인지과제 수행에 있어 배경음악의 효과

국문 초록

본 연구는 인지과제 수행 시 청취하게 되는 배경음악에 있어 본인이 선호하는지의 여부 및 배경음악에 포함된 가사의 형태가 인지과제를 수행하는 데 미치는 영향을 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 연구 1에서는 실험 참가자로 하여금 주어진 20개 음악의 선호도를 체크하도록 하였으며, 연구 2에서는 동일한 음악에 가사가 없는 조건, 한국어 가사 조건, 일본어 가사 조건을 구성하였다. 또한 비언어적 인지과제로 시각 작업기억 과제를 사용하였으며, 언어적 인지과제로 음운 작업기억 과제를 사용하였다. 그 결과, 연구 1에서는 배경음악의 선호도의 차이가 유의하게 인지과제 수행의 변화를 유도하지는 못한 것으로 나타났다. 또한 연구 2에서는 일본어 가사가 포함된 배경음악을 청취한 집단의 인지과제 수행이 다른 조건에 비해 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 배경음악을 통해 유도될 수 있는 호오(好惡)도의 감성이 가사와 같은 배경음악이 가진 특성들이 과제 수행의 변화에 미치는 영향만큼 크지 않으며, 배경음악의 처리과정에 있어 실험 참가자의 체계적인 무시전략의 영향 가능성이 존재함을 시사한다.

영문 초록

This study examined effects of the preference and the form of lyrics in background music while participants performed cognitive tasks on performances of cognitive tasks. For this purpose, participants checked their preferences about given twenty musics in experiment 1, and non-lyric condition (MR), Korean-lyric condition and Japanese-lyric condition was configured as the form of lyrics in experiment 2. In addition, we used both the visual working memory task as the non-verbal cognitive task, and the verbal working memory task as the verbal cognitive task in experiment 1 and 2. As a result, the difference of preferences for musics did not induce changes on the performance of cognitive task in experiment 1, and the group who heard the background music of Japanese-lyric were excellent in performing on the cognitive task than the others. It suggested that affect of the background music would not so enough to impact on the change of task performances as characteristics of background music like a lyric, and the systematic ignore-strategy would be involved in the processing of background music.
