외국인 직접투자의 생존율과 생존요인에 대한 실증연구

국문 초록

본 연구는 생존분석을 활용하여 외국인 직접투자의 생존요인을 분석하기 위한 것이다. 이를 위해 외환위기 이후인 1998년에서 2001년까지 4개년 간 국내에 외국인 직접투자가 유입된 기업을 대상으로 투자유치 이후 8년간의 외국인 직접투자 생존에 영향을 미치는 요인을 분석하였다. 최종 연구표본에 포함된 기업의 수는 1998년 86개, 1999년 137개, 2000년 175, 2001년 128개로 총 526개이다. 생존율을 추정하기 위해 카플란-메이어(Kaplan-Meier) 분석을 활용하였으며, 생존요인 분석에는 Cox 비례위험모형을 활용하였다. 분석결과, 투자산업에서는 제조업이 서비스업 보다 생존율이 높으며, Greenfield가 M&A보다 생존율이 높았다. 또한 지분율 50%이상인 기업에서 생존율이 높게 나타났다. Cox 비례위험모형의 분석 결과, 투자형태, 투자지분, 경영성과 모두 유의한 요인이었으며, 투자방법이 Greenfield가, 지분관계는 외국인 직접투자의 지분율이 높을 때 그리고 경영성과가 좋으면 외국인투자의 생존율이 높다.

영문 초록

The objectives of this paper are to analyze the survival factor of FDI (foreign direct investment) companies by survival analysis. For this analysis, the target is the companies flowed with FDI in Korea for four years form 1998 to 2001 after the financial crisis and we analyzed factors affecting FDI survival after eight years of investment. The sample of paper included total of 128 companies. Kaplan-Meier was utilized to estimate the survival ratio, and then Cox proportional hazard model (Cox ph model) was utilized to analyze survival factors. The result is as follows. In investment industry, the survival ratio of manufacturing industry was higher than services industry. In investment method, the survival ratio of Greenfield was higher than M&A. In FDI industry, the survival ratio of manufacturing industry was higher than services industry. In FDI method, the survival ratio of Greenfield was higher than M&A. In share relationships the survival ratio of ‘over 50%’ was higher than ‘under 50%’. In the result of Cox PH model analysis, the significant factors affecting FDI survival is ‘Invest method’, ‘Invest share’, ‘ROS’.
