국문 초록

본 연구는 성폭력 범죄자의 인지 및 성격적 특성을 보다 탐색적으로 이해하기 위하여 KLIWC (Korean Linguistic Inquiry & Word Count)를 사용해 그들의 언어를 분석하고 이를 일반인들의 자료와 비교하였다. KLIWC는 한 개인으로부터 획득된 글을 언어적 변인들과 심리적 변인들로 세분하여 해당 변인에 해당하는 단어들의 상대적 사용 빈도를 수량화하는 프로그램이다. 분석 결과, 인칭대명사의 사용과 시제관련 기능어의 상대적 빈도에 있어서 성범죄자 집단은 일반인 집단에 비해 유의미한 차이를 보였으며, 이는 관련된 기존 연구들의 행동적 분석과도 일치하는 결과이다. 또한 성범죄자 집단은 일반인 집단에 비해 정서 혹은 인지적 측면 등과 같은 심리적 차원에 있어서도 다수의 유의미한 차이를 보였으며 KLIWC 개별 변인들 간의 상관관계 형태에 있어서도 매우 이질적인 양상을 보였다. 따라서 본 연구의 결과들은 범죄자의 언어적 행위 분석이 매우 구체적이고 유형화된 정보를 제공할 수 있으며 범죄자의 심리적 상태에 대한 이해를 도울 수 있는 유용한 자료로 활용될 수 있다고 종합될 수 있다.

영문 초록

This Study compared the writing of sexual criminals to common people by using Korean-Linguistic Inquiry Word Count (KLIWC). Twenty sexual criminals and forty college students (comparison group) wrote a self introductory essay for imaginary person. KLIWC yielded counts and percentage of word categories using the parts of speech of the Korean language and psychological (emotional, cognitive, sensory/perceptual, social, physical/ functional and metaphysical processes) criteria. Results revealed that common people use more sentence, clause, and morpheme than sexual criminals and the use of pre-noun and present tense correlated with negative mood of the subjects. The Writing of sexual criminals using more pre-noun and present tense than common people, showed more negative emotion than common the group. Also sexual criminals expressed less psychological content than common people. Further, the two groups were different in the aspect of individual correlations between KLIWC variables. These results suggest that data of language analysis from criminals can be used as quantitative guidelines for crime research.
