운전상황에서의 과제부담 수준에 따른 공간 스트룹 과제 수행에서의 차이

국문 초록

자극의 제시위치와 자극의 의미가 부합하는지의 여부 즉, 자극-자극 부합성에 따른 공간 스트룹 과제에서의 수행 차이가 운전 중 부과되는 과제부담 수준에 따라 어떻게 달라지는지 운전시뮬레이션을 이용하여 검토하였다. 먼저, 반응시간에 대한 분석 결과, 공간 스트룹 과제만 요구된 단일과제 조건보다는 공간 스트룹 과제와 차간거리 유지 과제가 모두 요구된 이중과제 조건에서, 그리고 자극-자극 부합 조건보다는 비부합 조건에서 실험참가자들의 반응시간이 유의하게 더 느렸다. 그러나 비부합 조건에서의 반응시간 증가폭은 이중과제 조건에서 더 뚜렷하였다. 둘째, 반응 에러율도 자극-자극 부합 조건에 비해 비부합 조건에서 실험참가자들의 에러율이 전반적으로 증가하였다. 그리고 이러한 에러율의 증가폭은 단일과제 조건에 비해 이중과제 조건에서 더 컸다. 자극 속성들이 비부합하는 공간 스트룹 과제 혹은 과제부담 수준이 높은 조건에서는 반응의 수행이 저하된다는 것은 이미 많이 알려졌지만 본 연구에서는 이 두 가지 과제를 결합함으로써 인지적 통제가 요구되는 공간 스트룹 과제 수행이 동시에 수행해야 하는 과제에 대한 자원할당 부담의 증가에 의해 추가적으로 저하될 수 있다는 것을 관찰하였다는 점에서 의미가 있다.

영문 초록

This study investigated the difference in spatial Stroop interference between single task condition (performing spatial Stroop task only) and dual task condition (performing spatial Stroop task and headway maintenance simultaneously) using a driving simulation. Spatial Stroop was manipulated by mapping presentation locations and directions (meaning) of arrows to be compatible or not. The results are followings. First, although reaction time in incompatible spatial Stroop condition generally tended to be longer than that in compatible condition, the amount of increase the reaction time was salient in the dual task condition. Second, the error rates in spatial Stroop task showed similar pattern to reaction time: error rate in the spatial Stroop task was significantly increased in the incompatible condition, and, more importantly, the amount of increase in error rate was larger in the dual task condition than single task condition. The results suggested that performance in spatial Stroop task can be interactively influenced by increase in resource demands.
