시 치료 프로그램 참여가 노년기 자아통합감 및 삶의 만족도에 미치는 영향

국문 초록

본 연구는 노년기에 해당되는 고령자들에게 사회적 활동으로서 시 치료 프로그램에 참여토록했을 때 시 치료 프로그램에 참여하지 않은 고령자들에 비해 이들의 자아통합감과 삶의 만족도의 변화가 나타날 수 있는지를 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 시 치료 프로그램에 참여하는 집단과 시 치료 프로그램에 참여하지 않은 집단에 각각 10명의 고령자들을 무선배정하고, 이들로 하여금 프로그램 참여 전(사전)과 후(사후)에 자아통함감 척도와 삶의 만족도 척도에 각각 응답하도록 하였다. 그 결과, 시 치료 프로그램에 참여한 고령자들이 시 치료 프로그램에 참여하지 않은 고령자들에 비해 사후 시점에서 노년기 자아통합감과 삶의 만족도가 모두 향상된 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 시 치료 프로그램의 참여 여부가 고령자들의 노년기 자아통합감과 삶의 만족도를 긍정적인 방향으로 변화시킬 수 있음을 의미한다. 이는 시 치료 프로그램이 고령자들에게 자기 자신에 대한 지각과 사고활동을 촉진시킬 수 있다는 점과 고령자의 삶에 긍정적인 변화를 유도하는 사회적 활동 중 평생교육 프로그램으로서 시 치료 프로그램이 활용될 수 있다는 점을 시사한다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to examine whether the ego integrity and life satisfaction in the elderly can be changed when they participate in the poetry therapy program as a social activity. To do this, 10 elderly were assigned to each group (the group participating in the poetry therapy program and the group not participating), and they were asked to respond to ego integrity and life satisfaction scales before and after the program participation respectively. As a result, the elderly who participated in the poetry therapy program showed better ego integrity and life satisfaction than the elderly who did not participate. These results suggest that the participation of the poetry therapy program could change the elderly ego integrity and life satisfaction in the positive direction. In addition, this suggests that the poetry therapy program could be used as a lifelong education program among the social activities which induced positive changes in the life of the elderly, and lead to positive perceptions and thinking activities of the elderly.
