국문 초록

이 연구는 각 정당에서 대선에 출마할 후보자가 결정된 시기의 페이스북 팬페이지의 댓글망과 탄핵 국면에서 대선초기에 활동한 선도자의 이동경로를 조사하였다. 구체적으로 첫째, 2017년 대선캠페인 초기에 활동한 이용자들이 형성한 댓글망의 구조를 검토한다. 둘째, 조기 대선의 도화선이 된 탄핵 국면에서 언론사 페이스북 팬페이지에 형성된 이용자와 이후 선거 초기 국면에서 후보자들의 페이스북에서 활동한 이용자들을 시간이 흐름에 따라 유입경로와 이동경로를 역추적하고 비교해 보았다. 분석 결과 첫째, 댓글 수, 1인당 평균 댓글 수, 대댓글 수 등의 항목과 네트워크 분석 지표를 통해서 소셜미디어를 통한 참여와 이용자들의 연결성 측면에 있어 문재인의 대선 승리를 예측하는 강력한 지표임을 보여주었다. 그리고 이용자 중 특정 이용자로부터 댓글을 시작하는 관점과 댓글이 몰리는 시각에서의 지배도를 구분하여 계산하여 후보 페이지 간 차이를 살펴보았다. 둘째, 문재인 후보 측에서 활동하는 이용자들이 탄핵과 대선 국면을 거치며 페이스북 상에서 적극적인 참여와 주도적인 역할을 수행하였다. 이를 통해 불확실성이 큰 선거캠페인에서 적극적 참여층의 정체성을 구체적으로 파악하고 이 계층의 정치적 관심사와 의견을 추적한 것에 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

This study explored two networks among commenters on Facebook fan pages when candidates announced their official nomination to run for President of South Korea. It argues that commenters in early stage of presidential campaign can be regarded as first-movers, harbingers, and opinion leaders who may influence lay-people. One network was constructed from their posting-replying activities on Facebook pages of individual candidates. The other network was derived from commonalities in South Korea’s 2016 candlelight protests to impeach President Geun-Hye Park. The first network indicated that number of comments, number of comments per person, number of comments on one’s own comments, and edges with duplicates were strong indicators of President-elect Moon Jae-in’s victory in terms of social media-mediated participation and internal connectedness among commenters. Also, both co-comments and in/out-centralization metrics were measured to determine the contextuality in cognitive proximity and relational strength among commenters. The second network also revealed that Moon was prominent in terms of the number of shared commenters between Facebook pages of protests and candidates.
