이스라엘 하브루타 원리에 기초한 온라인 토론활동의 상호작용패턴 분석

국문 초록

본 연구에서는 이스라엘 하브루타 원리에 기초한 온라인 토론활동에서 나타난 학습자의 상호작용을 질적으로 분석함으로써 하브루타 온라인 상호작용의 유형 및 특성을 이해하고자 하였다. 이를 위하여 서울의 K대학에서 교육공학 과목을 수강하는 대학생 16명을 대상으로 2015년 3월부터 6월까지 이스라엘 하브루타 원리에 기초한 온라인토론을 실시하였다. 상호작용을 분석하기 위해 12주 동안 5개의 주제로 이루어진 토론활동의 자료들을 수집하여 범주화하여 상호작용 유형을 파악하였다. 연구 결과, 하브루타 원리에 기초한 온라인 토론활동에서 나타난 상호작용의 유형은 주장을 주의 깊게 들여다보기, 차이를 발견하고 탐색하기, 설득력 있는 근거 제시하기, 의미 절충하고 확장하기, 변화와 도전 및 협력하기 등으로 나타났다. 온라인 하브루 타 토론활동을 통해 학습자들에게 지속적인 질문과 답변을 통한 질 높은 상호작용의촉진을 돕고, 교수자들에게 온라인 하브루타 토론활동의 교수학습에 대한 새로운 전략을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것이다. 또한, 국내외 하브루타 토론활동의 활용 및 적용에 있어 교육현장에 많은 의의와 시사점을 제공할 것으로 기대한다.

영문 초록

The rising emphasis of innovation and creativity in education has shed light on a unique Jewish teaching method, known as havruta. Havruta is Israel’s traditional form of Jewish debating, in which two persons examine, analyze, discuss, and facilitate arguments whilst thinking through answers and questions repetitively with each other. The purpose of this study is to understand the process of online discussion by analyzing those of interaction patterns peformed based on the principles of Israeli’s Havruta. The subjects of this study were 16 students, who registered for educational technology certificate-related courses at K University in Seoul. The subjects participated in online discussion activities on five different topics, and it was carried out for 12 weeks. To analyze the interaction patters of online discussion, Gunawardena et al’s (1997) Interaction Analysis Model was adapted. According to the research results, the type of interaction that was indicated by online discussion activities based on Israel s havruta principle were diverse – ranging from being attentive to arguments and opinions, discovering differences and investigating, proposing credible evidences, meaning negotiation and extension, open to changes, challenges and cooperation etc. By utilizing online havruta’s discussion activities, it is expected that interactions through questions and answers to the learner will be promoted extensively, and provide new strategies and new way of learning for online havruta discussional activities for scholars. In addition, this study of the online discussion activities based on the principle of Israel s havruta will give influence to education in South Korea, opening up as a momentous educational outbreak both nationally and internationally.
