자유선택활동 놀이시간에 나타나는 몰입경험에 관한 질적 연구:

국문 초록

본 연구는 유아 교실의 자유선택활동 놀이시간에 나타나는 유아들의 몰입경험 특성을 알아보고 유아들의 몰입 경험 촉진을 위한 교사의 역할에 대해 탐구해 보고자 하였다. 본 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위하여 B시 P어린이집 초롱반의 유아들과 교사 를 연구 참여자로 선정하였다. 자료 수집은 약 3개월 간 총 18회기에 걸쳐 초롱반의 자유선택활동 놀이시간을 비참여 관찰하였고, 초롱반 교사 2인과 유아들의 면담, 비디오 녹화, 사진자료, 연구자 일지를 토대로 자료를 수집하였다. 자료의 분석은 수집된 자료를 전사하고 주제별로 코딩한 후 주제 또는 의미화 생성 과정을 거쳐 주제어를 도출해 내었다. 그 결과 자유선택활동 놀이시간에 나타나는 유아 몰입경험의 특성은 혼자만의 고유한 놀이 세계 만들기, 놀이에 빠져드는 몸, 몰입 휴식기 가지기, 더 많은 역량 발휘하기로 나타났다. 더불어 몰입경험의 촉진을 위한 교사의 역할은 유아몰입에 관심을 가지고 흥미중심의 놀이 존중하기, 몰입경험을 민감하게 관찰하기, 놀이 약속 제한하기의 교육적 배려로 드러났다. 이를 통해 유아의 몰입이 가지는 가치와 중요성을 깊게 이해하고 진정한 놀이를 강조하는 자유 놀이 시간의 활성화에 교육적 의의가 있다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to examine the characteristics of young children’s flow experience during a free play in the class for young children and explore teacher roles to facilitate their flow experience. To address the goal, this researcher selected young children from Class Chorong in P Daycare Center of B City and the teachers as participants. Data were collected for about three months, in total 18 sessions. Non-participant observation was done during a free play in Class Chorong. Data were collected from interviews to two teachers and young children of Class Chorong, video-recording, photos, and this researcher’s journal. For data analysis, this author transcribed the material collected and performed coding for each individual topic and then went through the process of producing topics or meanings to draw keywords. According to the results, young children’s flow experience during a free play is characterized by their alone time to have a unique play world of their own, their body becoming immersed into play, taking a rest from flow, and exhibiting higher competency. Moreover, as teacher roles to facilitate their flow experience, this author has found the followings: paying attention to young children’s flow experience and respecting their interest-oriented play, observing their flow experience sensitively, and practicing educational consideration by limiting the time promised for play. Through the process, this researcher has come to understand the value and importance of young children’s flow profoundly. This study has educational significance as it contributes to vitalizing free play emphasizing the value of real play.
