초등 과학수업에서 SCTL 학습태도 요인과 학업성취도와의 관계 분석

국문 초록

최근 공교육에서는 협력학습, 협동학습, 참여적 학습을 강조하고 있다. 이런 방법론들은 사회문화적 학습이론(Sociocultural theory of learning, 이하 SCTL) 관점에서 교육 변화의 대안이 되고 있다. SCTL의 배경 이론으로는 인지적 구성주의, 사회 적 구성주의, 상황학습, 사회문화적 활동이론, 상황화된 인지이론들이 있는데, 그 중에서 선행조직자, 전이, 사회적 상호작용, 실행공동체, 매개, 스캐폴딩, 잠재발달영역, 합법적 주변적 참여 등과 같은 개념들은 교실현장을 해석하는데 매우 유용하다. 그러나 SCTL의 내용과 방법이 다양하기 때문에 교육현장에서 SCTL의 핵심개념을 도출하기가 쉽지 않다. 따라서 교사의 입장에서는 수업의 가이드라인이 될 수 있고, 학생의 입장에서는 SCTL 학습태도가 될 수 있는 요인들이 무엇인지 제시될 필요가 있다. 이 연구에서는 과학수업에서 학생들의 SCTL 태도를 묻는 검사 도구를 개발하고, SCTL 태도와 학업성취도의 상관관계를 분석하였다. 그 결과, 첫째, 학생들의 SCTL 학습태도를 확인하기 위하여 탐색적 요인분석으로 핵심 요인을 도출하였다. 그 결과, SCTL 태도 검사 도구의 공통요인으로 ‘과학적 탐구 역량’ 요인과 ‘참여 의식’ 요인을 추출하였다. 둘째, SCTL 학습태도와 학업성취도는 통계적으로 유의미한 상관관계를 보여주었다. 이는 사회적 대리자로서 높은 과학적 탐구 역량과 참여 의 식을 가진 학생들이 일반 학생들보다 높은 학업성취를 보일 수 있다는 점을 시사한다.

영문 초록

Public education system emphasizes collaboration, cooperation, and participation in classes as very essential elements of educational practice in the perspective of Sociocultural Theory of Learning(SCTL) which includes theories from various domains: Advanced organizer, Transfer, social interaction, Community of practice, Mediation, Scaffolding, ZPD(Zone of Proximal Development), LPP(Legitinate Peripheral Participation). Although these theories would be viable concepts for understanding both instruction and learning, too many concepts could make practitioners burdened to decision-making for classes like which principles could be more important than others. There is a need that the simple and integrated factors should be suggested as a guideline to teachers and a SCTL attitude to students in order to implement those methodologies appropriately. This study has two aims: to develop SCTL self-test for students; to analyze the correlation between SCTL attitude and learning achievement in science classes. First, in order to identify SCTL attitude of students, we have developed a SCTL self-test questionnaire and verified it with exploratory factor analytic approach. Conclusively, the SCTL self-test includes two common factors: ‘scientific inquiry competency’ and ‘participatory attitude’. Second, the results of statistic analysis showed the significantly positive correlation between SCTL attitude and learning achievement. We could conclude that students as social agencies showing higher SCTL attitude might have better learning achievement than normal students.
