세계문화유산 양동마을에서의 과학 학습:

국문 초록

본 연구는 세계문화유산인 양동마을을 활용한 과학 현장 체험 학습 프로그램을 개발하고 교육적 효과를 확인하는데 목적이 있다. 탐구 활동의 도구로서 스마트 기기와 측정 도구가 학습 과정에 미치는 영향을 중심으로 분석했다. 양동마을에서 이루어지는 과학 현장 체험 학습 프로그램을 개발하고자 선행 연구를 분석하고 양동마을 현장을 직접 방문하면서 사전 학습, 현장 체험 학습, 사후 학습으로 구성된 양동마을 과학 현장 체험 학습 프로그램을 개발했다. 서울 지역 한 대학교에서 운영하는 과학 교실에 다니는 18명의 중학교 1·2학년 학생들에게 개발된 체험 학습프로그램을 적용했다. 모든 수업 과정과 면담 과정을 녹화했으며, 사전·사후 조사지, 면담 전 조사지, 학생들의 활동지, 발표 자료 등을 수집하여 분석했다. 스마트 기기를 사용한 모둠은 자동 측정이 되는 스마트 기기 때문에 측정 활동이 약화된 과학 학습을 경험했다. 문화 유산은 자신이 배운 내용을 직접 확인하고 정서적 학습을 경험하는 공간이었다. 스마트 기기를 사용한 모둠은 문화 유산이 강조된 과학 학습을 경험했다. 이에 학생들은 양동마을의 자연 환경보다는 사회·문화적 내용을 중심으로 지식을 형성했고, 양동마을에 대한 자신만의 장소감을 가졌다. 측정 도구를 사용한 모둠은 기온, 풍향과 풍속 등 자연 환경요소를 반복적으로 측정하면서 측정 활동이 강조된 과학 학습을 경험했다. 이 과정에서 학생들은 측정 결과를 자기화했고, 새롭게 형성된 지식에서 양동마을의 자연 환경이 중심 내용이었다. 학생들은 양동마을을 종합적으로 이해했다. 측정 도구를 사용한 모둠은 문화 유산인 양동마을에서 과학 활동 위주의 과학을 학습했다. 학생들은 문화 유산 현장을 다양한 감각으로 체험할 수 있는 교육 공간으로 인식했고, 양동마을의 문화 경험에서 부족함을 느꼈다. 추후 문화 유산에서 이루어지는 스마트 기기 활용 과학 교육의 의미와 한계에 대한 더 많은 연구가 필요하다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study is to develop an experiential learning program in science using Yangdong Village which is a world cultural heritage and to confirm its educational effect. We analyzed the effects of smart devices and measurement tools on learning process as a tool of inquiry activities. We developed the experiential learning program of Yangdong village which consists of pre-study, on-site experience learning, and post-learning by analyzing the previous research and visiting the Yangdong Village several times. We applied the program to 18 middle schoolers in a science classroom hosted by a university in Seoul. We recorded all classes and interviews, and collected and analyzed pre- and post-surveys, pre-interview surveys, student activities, and presentations. The team using the smart device experienced a science lesson in which the measurement activity was weakened by the smart device that was being measured automatically. Cultural heritage was a place to directly learn what they learned and experience emotional learning. It was a place to directly learn what they learned and experienced emotional learning. Using the smart device, the team experienced science learning that emphasized cultural heritage. The students built knowledge based on social and cultural contents rather than natural environment of Yangdong Village, and had their own sense of place in Yangdong Village. Using the measurement tools, the team experienced science learning where measurement activities were emphasized by repeatedly measuring natural environmental factors such as temperature, wind direction, and wind speed. In this process, the students self-measured the results, and in the newly built knowledge, the natural environment of Yangdong Village was the central contents. Students made a comprehensive understanding of Yangdong Village. Using the measurement tools, the team experienced science-oriented learning at Yangdong Village, a cultural heritage site. The students recognized the cultural heritage site as an educational space where they could experience various senses, and felt the lack of culture experience in Yangdong Village. Further research is needed on the implications and limitations of science education using smart devices in the cultural heritage site in the future.
