국문 초록

본 연구에서는 STEAM 교육을 실제로 실시한 경험이 있는 교사들을 대상으로 STEAM 교육에 대한 교사들의 인식과 STEAM 교육의 현장 정착을 위해 필요한 요구 사항들에 대해 알아보고자 하였다. 연구의 목적을 달성하기 위해서 STEAM 수업 경험이 있는 전국 초·중등학교 교사 152명을 대상으로 설문 조사를 실시하였 고, 설문 조사 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 교사들은 STEAM 교육에 대해 전반적으로 이해한다고 생각하고 있었으나, 일부 다른 교육의 특성과 혼동하는 교사들도 있었다. 둘째, 교사들은 STEAM 수업 효과에 대해 만족하지만, 준비도와 자신감에 대해서는 중립적인 입장을 취했다. 셋째, 교사들은 STEAM 교육의 현장 정착과 교사 이해를 위해 가장 필요한 사항으로 STEAM 교수-학습 프로그램의 개발 및 보급을 꼽았다. 넷째, 교사들은 STEAM 교육 관련 연수 참여에 긍정적이었으며, STEAM 교수-학 습 프로그램의 개발 및 개발한 프로그램에 대한 전문가 컨설팅을 포함하는 연수 프 로그램을 원하고 있었다. 다섯째, STEAM 수업의 실시 횟수에 따라 STEAM 교육 에 대한 교사의 이해도, 필요성 인식도, 수업 후 필요성 인식도 변화, 수업 효과 만족 도, 향후 연수 참여에 관한 문항에서 집단 간 통계적으로 유의미한 차이를 볼 수 있었다.

영문 초록

The purpose of this study was to investigate teachers’ perceptions and needs of STEAM education for successful establishment of STEAM education in the field of education. A questionnaire designed to elicit teachers perceptions and needs of STEAM education was developed and given to 152 school teachers who had experiences in teaching practice of STEAM. The findings of this study are as follows: First, although most of the teachers participated in the study showed an overall understanding of STEAM Education, some showed misunderstanding or confusion with other educational approaches. Second, teachers indicated satisfaction of their teaching but they stood neuter on the issue of preparation and confidence in conducting STEAM education. Third, the most important teachers needs for the development of their understanding of STEAM education and successful establishment of STEAM education were a variety of instructional materials developed for STEAM education. Fourth, most of the teachers showed positive opinions of participating in professional development programs or workshops related to STEAM education in the future. Especially, they wanted to participate in professional development programs which provide them experiences in developing instructional materials and feedbacks from the STEAM education experts on the materials. Fifth, there were statistically significant differences among 3 groups divided by the number of teaching in teachers understanding of STEAM education, perceptions of necessity, the change in perceptions of necessity after teaching, and participation in professional development programs.
