학부모참여와 학교만족도의 관계

국문 초록

이 연구의 목적은 학부모참여 양상과 학교만족도의 관계를 알아보는 것이다. 이를 위해 학부모참여를 ‘자녀의 교육을 위해 학부모가 정보를 수집하고 학교와 교사와 소통하는 활동’과 ‘자녀의 학교 교육의 의사결정에 학부모가 참여하여 하는 활동’, ‘학부모가 가정에서 자녀의 학습을 지원하는 활동’으로 구분하고 이에 해당되는 서 울교육종단연구의 데이터를 분석하였다. 연구결과 서울시 초·중·고등학교 급별 학부모참여의 양상은 다음과 같다. 첫째, 학 교와의 소통, 학교 활동의 참여, 자녀학습지원 등에서 초등학교 학부모가 중·고등학 교 학부모보다 참여 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 반면에 학업성적과 진로 진학 등 에 대한 상담은 고등학교 학부모가 중학교 학부모보다 참여 수준이 높은 것으로 나 타났다. 둘째, 학부모 변인에 따른 학부모참여는 초·중·고등학교 급 모두에서 월평균 가구소득이 높을수록 상대적으로 학부모참여 수준이 높았고, 모직업에서는 전업주 부인 경우에 학부모참여 수준이 높게 나타났다. 셋째, 학부모참여 여부에 따른 전반 적인 학교만족도는 초·중학교 학부모는 학부모 모임의 영역을 제외하고 참여집단이 비참여집단보다 전반적인 학교만족도 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 고등학교 학부 모는 모든 영역에서 참여집단이 비참여집단보다 전반적인 학교만족도 수준이 높은 것으로 나타났다.

영문 초록

The present study examined the parental engagement among the parents of elementary, middle, high school students in Seoul according to school level and parents’ characteristics. ‘Parental Engagement’ was divided into three domains, ‘Communication between school and Family’, ‘Involvement at school’ and ‘Involvement in learning activities at home’. The Dataset of ‘Seoul longitudinal study of Education’ were analyzed using Anova. Participants were 14,036 parents and the variables were all measured by parents. The main results of this study were as follows. First, there were significant differences in parental engagement according to school level. The parents of elementary school students were more likely to participate than those of middle and high school students in all the domains of parental engagement except parent-teacher meeting in Communication about school grades and career. Second, there were significant differences in parental engagement according to parents’ characteristics such as monthly income and maternal occupation in all school level. Parents with relatively higher level of monthly income and housewives as maternal occupation are more likely to participate in parental engagement. Thirdly, there were some significant differences in general school satisfaction between engaged and nonengaged parents in the domains of parental engagement.
